It seems to me that people today have become a bunch of "I'm entitled" wimps. Nobody held a gun to your head and forced you to buy your truck -- you were perfectly capable of checking out its options before you bought it. Spend a few years riding in Army combat vehicles and then see how your Tacoma compares.

First of all, the theme of this thread is what do you not like about your Tacoma. Most people here, myself included have said that we love ours BUT there are some things that could be better. It's all in good fun.
Secondly, I paid nearly $28000, which is a lot of money in today's economy, so if I want a stereo that turns up loud enough to feel like a rock show, or a freakin' 50 cent keyhole in the passenger side door, which has been the standard since locking doors were invented probably, I don't think it should be too much of a stretch to expect these things.

I wish my truck had a diesel engine and a solid front axle. Yep it is my fault for buying the truck knowing it was not so equipped. Saying that, this truck is running awesome. After fixing the suspension, the radio sound system, putting decent tires on, a bed mat, fitted floor mats etc. the truck is doing what I bought it to do. My problem is I test drove a 2011 ford super duty with the new ford diesel and 6-spd auto transmission and damn that was an experience that makes just about anything else irrelevant. Unfortunately that truck is selling for over 60000 so not likely to happen any time soon and my taco is running beautifully; but why can't toyota make a taco with a nice small diesel and a solid front axle 4wd? That would be awesome but equally unlikely to happen.

And I wish the brakes were not so mushy feeling. Gas mileage on the standard trans sucks.

I want a rear window like the Tundra's and 4Runners have. I also wish there were more fan speeds for the a/c (4 speeds just doesn't cut it for the AZ heat...it should go up to at least 5)

    Wet Okole seat covers
Cloth inserts on armrests get dirty and are in the perfect place to wear out

Seating material on the SR-5 doesn't look like it will stand up for long haul.
I solved that with Wet Okole seat covers but that cost a good few cents.

On my truck at least clutch needs to be depresssed almost through the floor when starting.

Orange lit dash hard to read

Packerfan, agree 100% with your signature items and completely support what your state is trying to do in regards to illegal immigration. Same issues in deep s. Texas BTW.

As far as my taco, it is running perfectly. Still has mushy brakes and shitty gas mileage. Still underpowered. Shifting has improved dramatically after 20000 miles. The truck is what it is and it is not ever going to be a truck with a diesel and a straight solid front axle for the 4wd. My plan is to keep this truck for general running around and going surfing. I will buy a 1994 ford f350 and put a cummins TD in that. That will be my real truck for when I need to tow heavy. The new trucks just have too much anti-pollution crap on 'em so that will be my end run around all that. I hate having the government dictate to me how I will do everything.
