I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
    Man where do I start?

I'm glad I bought a 1st gen after reading this.

I love my truck I have never been happier with a vehicle I thought long and hard about buying a 2nd gen but the the 1st gens were just so much better in my eyes.

But all & all we have some of the best trucks made 1st gen or 2gen

    WOW,

are you guys for REAL?????? Do your F#$%^&*( homework before you buy something or are you just spoiled brats......
This is EXACTLY why the Obamas's get elected...wah wah wah

Grow a SET and take responsibility for YOUR decision.....not pass the BUCK...

I have owned TOYOTA products since 1981 and have been through ALL of the recalls...catch is TOYOTA takes care of you-( name one other manufaturer to replace your frame on their dime...DO NOT say none of the others RUST ).....ALL 5 of our Camrys have done OVER 100k without a MAJOR expense,my 1st TOYOTA p/u went through 3 baby brothers AFTER me....

Sometimes the threads on here become the CNN/MSNBC of the web.....one "chicken little" and the whole place is going to he!!....
One last item,if they;TOYOTA suck so bad ,why during all this bad PR did customers STILL purchase their cars/trucks from them and why can TOYOTA still give TOP resale value to their LOYAL customers......'01 Tacoma SR5 X-tra cab just re-framed with 172k has a TRADE-In value of 10k towards an 2010 SR5 X-tra cab and the owner only gets a note for 15k....bad business or a COMPANY THAT KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING ???????

Snoope, nobody is talking about Toyota Company here, read the title, It says " What do you DISLIKE about your Tacoma". Now if you want to talk about the company how about Toyota Knowing about the problems that the trucks have, make a TSB in Dec 09, but in JULY 10 is still building the truck with the problem, and It's up to you the customer if you find out before the warranty expires, and if it does, you are screwed, even they knew 7 months before the were building the damn truck. Yea Toyota does a lot of things for the clients, but also plays a lot with luck at the expense of the clients..

cmannie, the truck is not a bad truck, that's why we all buy it and it's the most selling medium truck. But it has some stupid design flaws that can easily be fixed.

This forum doesn't account for even a quarter of Tacoma owners out there... That being said, this forum is a place for enthusiasts.

There are many people out there that just fine something wrong in anything. Expecting every option in a 30K truck isn't reasonable.

Hell, did you even look at the truck before you bought it, let alone test drive it?

MY POINT WAS AND STILL IS-....Don't buy the f#$&*(@ thing if you don't like the door handles, the stereo , the paint or the options package sucks  ,go find the TRUCK you want...then go post it on their forum.....

And I will answer the THREADS" question"......What do I dislike about my TACOMA ?????? That it looks so dam good,is reliable and holds it value so dam well that all the Candy a$$'s think that they can buy one and then come on a Tacoma forum and go wah wah wah wah....

If you hold off a couple of years you may be able to get a VW diesel truck. I'm sure it's more than Mahindra but the Germans seem to be going a little crazy over there quality control. It's being built in South America. I guess you mentioned Mahindra because of the diesel. Still toyota is a good truck...maybe you got one built on a monday or friday....

Just to list a few but I really do love my truck.

Seats that stain by looking at them

Blinds spot caused by the mirrors (I paid dearly for that one)

Plastic dash that scratches sooo easily

    Stupid cup holders

    No insulation in roof.

Access cab rear window doesn’t open.

    Swiggity swangin' biggity bangin'
I've owned my Tacoma for three weeks now, I've driven slightly over 1200 miles on it, and I love it. Its solid, I love the way it handles and drives. I find it comfortable for driving for long periods of time (3-4 hrs) and I like the available storage space in the DC. The only complaints I have are these:

    • Tick tick tick
    • Engine is a little noisy and underpowered for a beast 4.0L
    • Soft brakes (I bought a Tacoma, not another Silverado. Toyota should know better)
I've read through this thread, and for the most part I can understand how a $30k vehicle shouldn't have the problems mentioned (noisy engine, gas guzzling 4.0, etc) or should have the accessories that a $30k truck should command (lit visor mirrors, gas tubes for the hood, etc). Yes, you can DIY and add just about anything you feel your Tacoma is missing for enough money and time, but should you really have to add a hood light after spending $30k for the renowned Toyota Tacoma?

It might even be true that Toyota's overall quality has gone downhill over the past several years, and seeing all the complaints in this thread lend evidence to this assertion.

However, I feel that the grass isn't necessarily greener on the other side. The Big Three American auto manufactures deliver accessories galore but severely lack on consistent build/part quality, Nissan has had its issues with the Titan and Frontier, and Honda's Ridgeline is holy-crap-expensive IMHO. Overall though, I wouldn't trade my Tacoma for another pickup. As I've said, I love this thing. It gives me a chubby.

    -edit-
Oh yeah. I do wish the cup holders were a wee bit bigger lol.

    redgypsy,

sucks to be you and your Toyota dealer...YES ,they dropped the BALL and have let a good customer leave....

good luck with the "other" truck and hopefully they treat you better..

No kool aid being drank here...cold hard facts with the miles and reciepts to back it up....Maybe I'm dam lucky to have good dealer reponse to any and all problems, recalls and great prices when we buy...but owning 15 Toyotas has to speak volumes ;):cool:3 hilux's,2 Taco's and 2 Runners--- to keep it ON THREAD......

I can say the Camry pi$$ed me off today, burnt out a headlight, might have to trade it now ;):D:D...

I just wish somebody over at Toyota Corporation can read this and fix the most obvious problems..
