Toyota didn't take me into account when they chose the place to put the clock.

Common, Toyota!...All you had to do was call me and I would have told you where to put it. I never hear from you. Why don't you call? :(

Other than that, I love my truck. I started with an 87'; then chose an 84' (rare fuel injected one, which I still have) over a 00' GMC Sierra; purchased a clean 86' (still have too) after I blew the head gasket on the 84' and didn't have the time to do the work. Now I have a beautiful 04' Tacoma 4x4 SR5 TRD extra cab with a sun roof. I will hold onto this forever. The resale value on this model/year should be more than what it is brand new. I love the look of it, the power, the handling, and its power over the ladies. Thank you Toyota. It's too bad the 05'-present looks so ugly...especially those wheel wells.

No leather option, no navi, no hard drive. :(

    And before you flame me, I know it's a truck... :D

    And I love it, anyway.

I just got mine, but one thing that bothered me in test driving and still does, allthough I'm slowly getting used to is the pedals. I keep hitting the arm part of the brake in stead of the pedal and have to adjust my foot to be able to press the brake down enough, this is dangerous and I do not have that big of a foot. (size 10) I am learning to reposition my foot to fix this, which puts my leg in an uncomfortable position. Basically the pedals seem too small and the space under the dash also.

Aside from that I wish they had a factory sunroof. I dont trust aftermarket sunroofs btw.

I can agree with that, I did look at the Frontiers and for the price of mine could have gotten a Frontier with heated leather seats, sunroof and cant remember about the stereo either had hard drive or Ipod control, maybe both. Cant remember. Just didn't like them enough to care. :D

So did I, and we had the VPP pricing to go with it. It would have been about $4500.00 less.

I have also had four Nissans previously, and think they make a good product.

But they have lost the battle with Toyota when it comes to a small pickup ;)

I like Nissan, dont get me wrong, just like the Tacoma's better. A big part of that is the mpgs. I know a couple of people with Frontiers and they weren't getting any better mpg than my Quad cab Hemi Ram with the 20's. The Frontiers were a little smaller too, the sb is already small enough, the Nissan seemed way smaller. I can go without the leather, the big thing that they have is the sunroof. I know I will miss my sunroof. There was just more about the Taco's that I do like more, the styling, the taller stance and the stereo sounds much better.

The only complaint I have is every time I buy something new for my truck and say that is the last thing I will upgrade/mod, I end up spending another couple hundred here and another couple hundred there, it never ends, nor will it

Auto dimming mirror doesn't dim enough, I would much prefer a manual day/night mirror.
Air recirculate control keeps turning off. I suppose that's so I won't suffocate.
    No usb port on stereo.

From absolutely needs fixing to annoying.

    1. Squishy brakes, the brakes just suck.
    2. Engine Ticks
    3. Easy to scratch paint.
    4. Annoying: Pull your line in cable out of the jack and the stereo mode switches to radio. No idea why they did this.
    5. Annoying beeping about my seat belt not being on. I am in the habit of putting my seat belt on after i start my truck. Plus, i am a grown damn man, if i want to kill myself on the highway because i decided to fore go the seat belt, LET ME!
    6. Annoying Recycled air button. Again Toyota is trying to out smart me. When driving around in the city or heavy traffic, there are always exhaust smells coming into the cabin. If i turn on recycle leave it on and dont force me to hold it for 2 secs every time i restart.
    7. Always throw my brights in when changing the windshield wiper speed. Maybe i just have clumsy hands.
    8. Stock TRD headlights (at least for me) are pointed too high. People are always brighting me because they think my brights are on.

    Cool Additions

    1. A simple gas cap holder in the fuel door. Again, take a note from Nissan. I am always scared the gas cap will scratch the truck.
    2. Interior lights should come on when i turn my key off, not when i open the door. Take a note from Nissan
    3. Make the gas peddle feel like a real gas peddle instead of steady tension through out.
    4. Better arm rests.
    5. Gripy bed liner.
    6. Ability to open (vent) access cab windows
    7. Leather seats option
    8. A simple led color cycle for the in dash lights. LEDs can easily be any color. Just drop a chip in there and let me set the color.
All this said, i love my truck and wouldnt trade it for the world.

some of this, a little of that

You can always aim your lights lower, takes all of a minute to do. It is not that the lights are too bright.

Ya, better arm rest! Every Toyota I've driven, the arm rest are too low. Something I liked about the Hondas. I could actually use the arm rest.

I dislike the fact that it will randomly decide not to start, then randomly decide it will start again. Frustrating and annoying more than anything.

I also really dislike the 4.0 running rich and throwing soot all over the lower quarter panel above the exhaust. I'm not sure why Toyota didn't just properly tune the engine.

Sounds like there is something wrong with your truck. It shouldn't do either of those things. How many miles do you have on it? I would take it in and have it checked. Could be bad fuel or oxygen sensor malfunction.

Mine always starts but it does blow black soot all over the quarter panel above the exhaust. From what I have read on here, its a common problem.

Unfortunately (or fortunately?), there's nothing wrong with it. The random non-starting has a TSB for it that my dealer refused while I was in warranty (supposedly didn't apply to my year), and now will not do because it's "out of warranty". In the 15 months I've had the truck, I've noticed it's much more prone to do this in colder weather (no, it's not battery related).

The 4.0 running rich as a "safety" precaution for the engine's reliability is a common thing. Nothing particular about that to my truck either. I still get 19-20 mpg on the highway and have no oil loss, so I'm not worried about it from a reliability standpoint, it's just ugly and annoying.

It's annoying how distracted Frontier drivers are when they see my Taco coming down the road and drive into my lane. :D
