Maybe there is not enough power in a 4 cylinder to link up to a 5th gear without lugging the engine too much ...

Thick ass visors that sunglass clips wont fit onto, small drink holder, no change holder, squeaks that are just loud enough to piss you off.

Like someone pointed out...NO insulation on roof..even my 97camry has better insulation. I was stunned when i first heard rain drop sounds.
Toyota shld have better leaf packs on even NON TRDs, common dont cut corners when you want to keep the tac`s reputation. The other main thing lots of other membrs incl me had steering issues..intermediate shaft dries, corrodes and binds and needs replacement. Wonder why its exposed to weather/elements when other brands dont encounter such issues.

I was disappointed by the rear brakes not being discs when I did some research before buying. ( then again, the truck is more designed to be driven sans load, and I'm sure it's because of that that they chose to go with drums).

One larger thing that irritates me is the seeming condescension Toyota has for truck buyers in this segment. I can do a simple mod to illuminate the 4X4 switch, while 4runner buyers get this stock ( makes no sense when the damn switch is the same minus the diffuser and bulb holder instead of a dummy ).Same goes for the turn signals, puddle lights, and heat in the mirrors. My truck new was damn close to the cost of a runner,so why not make it as nice ?

    Tick, Tick, Tick

Lack of bed lighting of any kind

SUPER light rear end (this will be solved with my steel bumpers on the way)

    Plastic interior

Stock tires (took care of that after about a week of ownership)

Slant, should be level stock. I don't feel like dropping a few hundred on a levelling kit.

    Shouldn't have bought white...

The impotant things are all great and I can't really complain because there isn't anything else on the market that can stand up to the taco

All this stuff posted is a very simple fix for Toyota to do and it's what makes me mad is that they know how to make the vehicles much better won't because it cuts into profit too much. Even small things like a little extra deadner under the carpets or using a little bit thicker plastic on the trim would make the truck feel much more solid as a whole. Do away with the over engineered crappy like the glove box shock and pit that money saved elsewhere in the cars.

V6 has a "sealed" trans with no dipstick... just drain, fill, and level check plugs on the case. It uses WS fluid.
The I4 has a dipstick and uses type T-IV

On the 2010 no dip stick. I got the truck with 11k on her and I notice a slip going to work, went to check fluid level no stick, called dealer, bring it in. She was 1qt low and they blamed me. Never touched it or the oil cost me $125. for a qt of fluid. Still pissed off and that was last year. The fuel filter is in the tank on this year as well. They, the company are making their truck so only the dealer can work on them. Whats next???

You should update your profile... still shows the '01 which is why we were confused.

The trans fluid CAN be checked and changed without the dealer.
As far as the fuel filter...
    I put 225k on my '94 HiLux
    130k on my '03 Tundra
    130k on my '91 Escort
    80k on my '87 Topaz
    200k on my wife's '89 Tracer
140k on my her '90 Storm GSI
    80k on her '00 Echo
    130k on her '04 Rav4
And that's not a complete list...

    I haven't changed a fuel filter in 30 years.
The sock in the tank is not a big deal.

No my profile state a 2010 tacoma. I check. But any how, having the dip stick and an fuel filter is all part of any good plan to keep your truck running. It is in boats and planes that I have worked on and it use to be in older trucks. All fluids should be able to be checked and all filters handy.

It's in the "online description"... that is just text that you enter.
It's not the year/model pulldown boxes.

No I had a bug in my old PC that when I wrote stuff, e mail and such it would not come out the way I wrote it. Have a new PC and slowly fixing some of those problems. Thanks for your input!
