Had a 99 4runner, wife currently has a Scion and as my gas-saver beater car (95 SL2 Saturn) all have or had a fuel door that could be opened from inside the vehicle. This is my 3rd toy truck and no upgrade with this...:(

The SR5 convenience package has it, and it's only a $100 mod that takes 15 minutes to install.
Don't even have to leave the driver's seat to change it.

I just picked up a 2012 4x4 TRD offroad and the 2 things I hate are the air recirculation button that doesn't always stay on and the gauge lights that always stay on even when you turn your headlights off. Both dumb ideas. My previous 2 vehicles were Tacoma's, 98 & 01 so I am not new to them.

Extremely dumb idea and I wish the DOT would mandate that any vehicle that does this have fully automatic headlights.
Been more than once I've caught myself driving for maybe 15 minutes later in the evening without headlights than I'd like, and every freaking day I see people on the freeway at 5am running nothing but their DRLs... but their dash lights are on.

    15mpg in cold weather

The FREAKING RIDICULOUS rattle of something loose inside the passenger seat that the dealer (and Toyota) refuse to acknowledge.

The seatbelt chime that my dealer refuses to disable due to "liability concerns".

    And that's about it.

Even with these gripes my 2012 is the best truck I've ever owned.

Yep. I have a feeling my dimmer switch will wear out before I am done with this truck.

Tacoma doesnt seem to carrry heavy loads well. 20 kg salt bags x 15 and the bed starts to go low. Hilux could carry heavier loads in South Africa I think.

ARB lockers and 4.88s front and rear, OME 886s, Dakars, etc., Safari Snorkel, 17"Fuel Revolvers w/ 35x12.50r17 KM2s, fenders cut 3" all around, Pioneer AVH-P4400BH w/ Backup cam, CB/PA (PA Installed), Weathertech Digis, Foglight anytime, AP: front bumper, skids, and pack rack, custom sliders, Warn 9.5XP, dual VIAIR 480Cs with a 2.5gal tank, OTRATTW switches galore, URD y-pipe, RCI skids, LF 240s, etc.
    Bad MPG? It's a truck. I'm okay with that, even though my friend's f150 with a v8, lifted 6 inches, gets 22 mpg when I'm getting 14.
But the turning radius is ridiculously bad. When it takes 3 oncoming lanes to do a U-turn, you may want to have some sort of rear-steer option...like GMC did with their "quadrasteer"

And front AND rear lockers from the factory wouldn't be something to complain about

The fact that the backup camera is on the tailgate, so it's useless when I have the tailgate down and the bed extender out to increase fuel economy. So annoying! Anyone ever done or thought about doing a backup camera relocation?

You haven't watched Myth Busters have you? They had a special on tv that lowering your tailgate does not help with MPG.

Simple answer is don't put your tailgate down. Myth busters proved tailgate down actually worsens mpg. Look it up. It's quite interesting

    General swagger and pizzazz.
3 things I hate about my truck (that I otherwise love):
    1. Cup holders are too small. Apparently Japanese engineers have never seen how big our drinks are.
    2. No door mirror defrosters. I had these on my 2001 4Runner and they were awesome for when its really cold and/or humid.
    3. My radio will not show/scroll entire band names or song titles when I listen to satellite radio.

Better fuel economy when the tailgate is closed! Positive air pressure and no wind drag! Look it up my friend!

I've just purchased my first Tacoma 4X4. It's a 2011 double cab 4L V6. When I had it into my Toyota dealer for an oil change I inquired about a faint tick I've been hearing while the truck is running. They said it was normal to hear that ticking in cold weather. I can't remember what he said it was now but I wasn't satisfied with his answer. Anybody know what it might be?
