This is me exactly!! I manage large construction projects but when someone asks I just say I work construction and try to change the conversation. I’m proud of what I do but everyones dad always has an opinion. Good or bad.

Thanks! You are more than kind. Here, let me give you my wife's cell number and you tell her. ReichsFuhrer Robin has an entirely different opinion...

Started in construction out of high school and while in college for 2 years. Figured out really quick that's not what i want to do the rest of my life. I work in Radiology now doing xray and MRI's. Getting ready to start traveling and do it. Edit and film videos on the side for myself making side money. I'm 31 now, been doing radiology for 7 years. Way easier and don't miss construction at all.

I am a doctor. Work as an internist and manage an outpatient clinic.

However, cars are my passion including modding and racing them. I frequent Buttonwillow raceway, willow springs, etc. for track days.

I also vinyl wrap cars, which got me through most of college.

I've been working at a funeral home for about two and a half years. As depressing as you might think that it is, it's actually not bad since I have two co-workers that are the same age as me (21). We goof around but we get stuff done. The worst part about this job besides picking up rotten(yes I mean rotten) bodies is probably being desensitized to death because I see it everyday. Anyway that's my job I'm still actively pursuing a career in law enforcement so wish me luck.

I am a construction manager at a Land surveying company. I work my ASS off. We are mom and pop operation, so I do all my own field work and most of my office work to go along with it. What lead me to surveying was I was in school for civil engineering (yes I graduated) and I wanted to work, but my mom kind of forced me to college. Well I had to take a surveying class, and knew it was for me. I make 50ish a year so far, but we are up and coming and as the company grows so does my pay in my position. Problem is, finding guys to work and do it right. We had a guy quit a month ago, so I've had to do all his jobs too (he was a boundary crew chief).

Worked a corporate job for 25 years. My position was "eliminated" in December of 2019. Walked away with my 6 month severance package and took a few months off (conincided with Covid lockdowns).

I've always done carpentry, home related projects on the side, so I made that my job. Been busy since May.

Completely different, but I'm really enjoying the freedom of being my own boss and the control I have over everything.

Taking October & November off for hunting.

Ever thought about the Military? The Army completely changed my life, mostly for the better. I did 4 years, went to college, and am currently a caregiver. Not using my bachelor's degree at the moment but i really dont care. Im very happy and living a life im proud of. Good luck to you dude. Youre still young, no rush. But dont slack either lol.

Can relate. My part time job is management, scheduling, networking with potential new members and sponsors, etc etc..yet I list it on my resume explaining it in the most professional way and I've had a couple of weird looks interviewing for jobs at my company where that experience is applicable. I want to just say "if I said it was running a Little League I bet you would see it different"..though I surmise it's more they have to find some way to nitpick so the usual favorite types can get it handed to them

From the same vein of bent humor that produced a bumper sticker reading "My kid beat up your kid at Fletcher Elementary School": The best reply I ever witnessed to the "what do you do?" question awkwardly posed with intent to socially subjugate, and way too soon in an introduction of two people: "What do I do for a living? I sell drugs to your kids."

    Game. Set. Match.
