For my full time I am a heavy equipment operator. For my side I own my small business where I do emergency equipment installations on Ambulances, LEO Units and Fire Apparatus. Doing the heavy equipment operator thing to finish my retirement from 15 years of being a Paid Firefight/ Assistant Fire Chief. Still volunteering for my local department.

First is lowering the amount going to Uncle Sam. Manipulation of my taxes is how I grew my income from my day job

My side hustle is a date garden. Been doing it 12 years. Last year it netted $300,000 in profits alone. It’s a full cash business. No legal employees. My only expense on books is a couple of Tacomas
Water is from well (cost me $40,000 to setup). Property is $5,000 an acre.
    I go once a month.

You’re literally growing dates? Do you need to have bees brought in to pollinate them like the almond guys do?

Been growing it 9 years. First 3 years was planting only.

I grow two kinds. I sell 70% to a local buyer, and 30% I export to SE Asia.

Yes I do have bees that a guy from about 80 miles away (bee farmer), supplies me with.

    Check Build thread
Usually I buy/sell high end mountain bikes or dirt bikes.... sometimes fix them and sell. Sometimes just clean them and re-list.

Also do some welding work and handyman stuff on the side.

These are good while being in college because I can essentially pick when I want to work... whether it be late nights fixing stuff etc

@PROseur ear to the ground is the best way to get into things especially when someone is willing to help teach you, man i envy some of you guys ( not to much though taxes and idiots keep me where i'm at) ...@snowboard704 -LOL in the south the only reason to ride a bike is because your skateboard was stolen by the 12 year old punk next door or you have to many DUI's no one rides anything with pedals around the south to lazy and fat but i get your point and welders are more than abundant but no one wants anything good built ( no sweet bumpers or bars), mainly fixing trailers and four wheelers and dirtbikes..

Solid generalization. You're an idiot. N Ga/E Tennesse/ W North Carolina has some of the best mountain biking in the country.

Agree 100%, and very well said.

My family always taught me the importance of networking. Instead of being "jealous," try to learn from people who are richer than you/smarter than you. As a result, I feel actually listening, which is a great skill, and being around smart well rounded people from all fields of life, you can learn a lot. As I said, I learned my date farming from my ER Doc friend. I could easily be "eh I am not a Physician, I don't really want to chat with him about what he does," but I have learned more in my life from people in other varied disciplines and it has served me well.

yeah the military taught me that as well networking is key for a lot of things in life... @honda50r - gee thanks for clarifying the reach of the south that has good bike trails.... geography is a hard concept for most to understand but so is looking at the state i currently reside- its Alabama in case you didn't see it and also thanks for picking up on the joke that you didn't finish highlighting... oh and pretty sure you forgot South Carolina for people who ride bikes in the south but thanks and don't be so quick to judge based off words on a forum...i was speaking in terms of my surrounding area and the population not the region as a whole

Wife an I have good careers but for a side hustle we buy low antique/ gently used funiture. Repair/refinish it an sell high. Been doing it a few months make some good side money. Also only one on my block with a riding mower so for 20$ I do 2 neighbors.

Why cause we get to do something together for the shopping An shop time. The mowing aspect it’s an extra 40 for gas an lunch for the week.
