You'd love my job then. Throw in rescuing a couple of window washers stuck on the side of a building 400' off the ground with 30 + MPH wind and it makes it fun. I love heights but even that made my sphincter muscle tighten up just a little.
The way I approach heights is: If you can work 20' off the ground then you can work 200' off the ground. Makes no difference from that point forward.

The one job I turned down on the Fire Dept. was the Bomb Squad. How I see the Bomb Squad is you either have initial success or total failure. Those are the only 2 outcomes.

    Oh hell no....

Way too much temptation for me.:rasta:

The pay is great you get to travel and the thrill of pushing off the 400' building while decending it awesome although I have never gotten used to those butterflies before the kick off

Agreed.... backing off the edge still gives me butterflies but it is fun once you're on the line.

i used to not handle heights so well
then i worked as a construction grunt where they really enjoyed throwing me 20-70' in the air on a shakey telehandler or scissor lift every day
i eventually got used to it

point is, though... yeah, i agree to an extent... once i was comfortable with 20', anything over that didn't really bother me (any more than the 30' that is)

You ever do California screamin in Disney California Adventure? My only thought on first step off is if I did my knots right.
You work for Global Ascent or Can? Irata or Sprat cert?

I'm 25, studied Parks and Recreation Management in college and got a great job right out of school.

I work for a municipal parks and recreation department planning events and festivals from 50-20,000 people, responsible for the bulk of the graphic design and promo within the department, and operate a series of sports leagues for people with disabilities. Plus numerous other random things.

I love my job but i'm also in the R&D stages of starting an artificial climbing hold manufacturing company in my spare time. I think my product quality is great, but refining and making more efficient the process is where I am at right now.

You "might" survive a 20' fall. Made plenty of people dead from falling from around that height. Depends on what and how you land though. I agree your chances are better but if you can work off a 20' wall you can work off a 200' wall. Once your on the line it doesn't really matter the height.

I hate heights. But I do love the sight of a 90lb dog apprehending a bad guy. Would not change with anyone here for anything. But I gotta say If I would have known the FD gets free t-shirts...things may have been different. And dude those dam fire trucks are like bug lights for hot chicks..
