I work for a company called H&H Engineering Construction, Inc.

I only drive the Hi-Rail when I'm inspecting a certain industry track.

I was offered a job a few years ago as a Track Foreman with Kiewit's South West rail division. I didn't want to travel as much as the job required so I turned down the offer. It's looking like I'll be moving into Construction/Project Management in a few years.

In laymen terms, I work on nuclear reactors. I get to travel around the country and sometimes out of the country.

I can honestly say, I love my job. Spring, I am away from home a lot but I am home for quite a while in the summer. It allows me to do a lot of diving/fishing.

If you are single, which I am not, mechanically inclined and like to travel, I would highly recommend getting into the nuclear industry as a tech during shut-downs.

Currently I am the shop foreman for a dealership collision center. I love my career. I started nine years ago as a porter pushing brooms and washing cars by hand. From there I learned collision repair and moved upto helper and then upto a tech. Awesome field to get into with many perks and open doors.

James, from what I have heard from the guys I know that have done wind turbine work, nuclear pays much better.
I would like to experience being x number of feet up in the air though! Nuclear plants are pretty ugly, no windows but, they are really cool looking inside. Reminds me of call of duties.

id like to get in to nuclear if I ever got the chance but for now I'm sticking with wind. I really would do any kind of power production; wind, nuclear, hydro, solar, even natural gas and coal wouldn't be that bad because there are plants everywhere do I'd have decent job security even if I had to move away. Where I'm from we have a natural gas plant, 2 damns and thousands of wind turbines all within a fifty mile radius and its a town of only 3000 people

Yea I don't blame you it was great getting to run all kinds of heavy equipment. I see heavy equipment go by on trucks and I wanna get back into it but I'm stuck being a maintenance mechanic/electrician/generator mechanic.

Keeping you busy bringing good things to life? :D

Chickie that used to live with me had some grandparents that retired from GE. Some how they'd ended up with some stock either as compensation, retirement or buying for more years than I've been alive. It was a really, really good move for them. GE has recently built a new small jet engine manufacturing plant not far from my house. If course I'm used to the slightly larger GE90-110b.

    something like that.

I'm actually in chemical sales, which in GE's corporate structure, makes us the red-headed bastard child of all the businesses. It could be said that GE is a huge financial company with a massive manufacturing arm, and even then we don't fit into either one of those categories.

Equipment operator for my cities utilities dept,I work on water, sewer, and irrigation services. The largest being a 36"transmission main, those are easy and less destructive,it's the 6-20" mains that wipe out roads. But over all I can't complain due to the fact my last overtime I had 49 hours on top of my 40 regular lol.
