I don't know who I envy more now. You or the client.

General contractor? Home builder? Hammer jockey for someone else?

Yup, in a different life, that's what I thought I'd be doing when I was young. Then I got this wild idea to go to college for engineering. Drop out and join the military.. working for the government was so damn easy, eventually I was trapped by my pension nearing maturity.

I REALLY hate my job. I mean, not violently, I just don't do it. A lot of desk stuff. I'm not good at it, don't like it, don't know how I got this far doing it. What's insane... I do it better and more than most around me; and I'm not kidding or exaggerating. I'm productive by comparison. Welcome to government work.

Waiting for retirement (so close but so far!) so I can do what I want. Picked up a CDL, just in case. Also, call me a big kid, but I love them heavy equipment. I would think you have to smile all day operating some of that stuff. Get to talk with the guys on some of our jobs, I always ask "is this job as fun as it looks?" They're always grinning. I just don't know what they do up north when things freeze in the winter. Go drive salt trucks en masse?
