Too many to count. But the most noteworthy would be:

    • Union Iron worker (Local 155) apprentice for several years.
    • Aviation Mechanic (A&P) for general and corporate aviation, approx 10 years. Wound up training mechanic to work on Piper Malibu's and Mirage's. I was also being prepped to get trained on the Pilatus, before leaving aviation.
    • For the last 10 years, I've been a public school teacher dual certified in CA & PA. Social Studies & Special Ed 6-12th grade.
Nothing truly exciting, but it has NOT been boring.

I work for a company that builds windfarms. We do development, engineering, and construction management. I am one of the guys out in the field supervising subcontractors, so I am about 50/50 between outside/inside.
Usually I'm in the northwest, but we work all over N. America so I never really know where I'm going to be next year.

Being a prior 135 pilot going to the other side of the transmitter, the grass may taste different, but it's not greener.

You think your schedule sucks now, just wait. it is nice to sleep in your own bed (even though it may be during the day today and the night tomorrow and during the day, the day after; vs. A crash pad with a hippie FO who believes BO is natures honey, scratching ones nuts through soiled whities in front of other humans is natural and the bed hasn't seen clean sheets in 3 weeks of nightly use.

Getting a re-route to XYZ 180° from your destination plugging it in the FMS and getting home an hour later vs. pushing 25 dots, all at the same altitude through a 10NM gap in the WX in your sector for 2 hours and can't get help, if you even humored your sup and tried to ask.
Give a pilot 3 re-routes the HAD to be given only to end up issuing the original route anyway because some 2 day hack in Traffic Management has no air traffic control, pilot experience or understanding of aircraft weather limitations. Just a BLeePing "Play-book" that has all the answers and is always right.

If you asked me in hindsight, if I made the right move, I couldn't answer that. Just don't want anyone to have to make a snap decision like I had to (Yes or No on this phone call and we'll see you in KOKC in 10 days) without knowing both sides of the industry.

Good luck with either decision you make!
