Hi folks, what do you do when Bluetooth says waiting for Bluetooth? Let's say it's doing it for almost half an hour? Let's say when trying with iPhone 5.

    thank you.

No issues with mine, maybe specific to iPhone 5? Have you tried connecting other phones?

Has anyone solved this yet. I am having a similar issue. I tried to pair my new LG G2 to the stereo system. The pairing did not work. Then the next time I turned on the stereo no bluetooth would start at all. I click select phone and it just says "waiting for Bluetooth..." Is there anyway to do a factory reset or something like this. This is very frustrating.

Cell phone provider would be a waste of time, they hardly have the skill to fix their phone issues let alone diagnose an issue pairing with a system they know absolutely nothing about (Toyota).

If you're having issues with Bluetooth connection, I've found that when I turn the Bluetooth OFF on my device and then turn it back on, that I can try pairing again. If your phone is a registered device on the head unit, delete it from the head unit and try setting it up as a new device. If neither of those work either separate or in a combination, I'd try going to your dealer or emailing/calling Toyota and see if it's a compatibility issue with your phone.

My iPhone 4S gives me full control on my head unit, I can browse contacts and do all kinds of great things. My Galaxy S4 has half the functionality via the head unit, unfortunately.

I had the same issue and finally took into the dealer since I am under warranty. I got a phone call from the service guy about an hour later and he tried to tell me the after market subwoofer I added caused the Bluetooth fail. I laughed at him. He said they cant cover it under warranty because of the after market part. Don't ever let them tell you this.

I then asked him if he was familiar with the Magnuson-Moss Act, which states that, a dealer must prove, not just vocalize, that aftermarketequipment caused the need for repairs before it can deny warranty coverage. Ifthe dealer cannot prove such a claim — or it proffers a questionableexplanation — it is your legal right to demand compliance with the warranty. The Federal Trade Commission administers the Magnuson-Moss Act and monitorscompliance with warranty law.

Hopefully this helps any of you that have aftermarket parts installed.

Needless to say he called back 20 minutes after that and they ordered a new radio. will update you after the radio is installed.

Has anyone solved this problem with the vehicle? It's not a phone specific issue, it's the vehicle Bluetooth not starting up for some reason.
Is taking it to the dealer the only solution? The only thing I've done recently is cleaned the vehicle. After the cleaning it doesn't seem to be working but I have no idea how cleaning the vehicle would cause Bluetooth to stop working.

Forgot to update after the dealer replaced the unit. No problems what so ever with the new unit. Apparently the Bluetooth module inside the head unit was bad. hopefully your truck is still under warranty.

Had the same issue. Took about a month of it not working or allowing me to connect a BT, or use the BT or do anything with the BT. Then one day it just started working again.

Okay so "waiting for blue tooth" tried to connect any and all the phones that have ever been connected with the radio failed to fix anything. Then I read about turning ignition to on but not starting engine and letting the radio power on then holding in the "app" button at the same time turning lights on then off 3 times (I thought someone was jerking my chain) brought up a diagnostic screen. In the bottom left corner toggle button "INT" it will say something about personalize data yes or no, I pressed yes and exited out by holding in the power button and then blue-tooth was working again.
Hope this helps, if your like me there was no way I was going to wait a month for it to magically start working again.
    Cheers

I will be saving this method for future use when the BT quits on me again. So infuriating that something as little as the BT not working can be so annoying. So annoying that I'm willing to try the button and flashing lights method to make it work again.

I had this same issue. “waiting for Bluetooth” in my 15 Tundra. When I read this I figured it couldn’t hurt to try. Man am I glad that I did. Worked exactly how you said it would and everything is back up and running. Thank you for saving me a trip to the dealer!!
