What do you guys think?

My father's in the market for a Tacoma and found this:

My only concern is that its being sold from a rental place. They claim its only 1 owner so either it was a trade in or they rented it out the past 3-4 years.

That's high mileage for only a three year old truck. You could go and ask them for paperwork on the truck. With the mileage itself it could have been used as a rental truck. Unless you go and directly ask them and get papserwork, there isn't much of an answer you're going to get from us.

 

If you're looking for something in that year range, id try to find something with lower mileage. That has 73,000 miles for a 2010 - that's almost twice the average yearly mileage for a person!

 

But your truck is just one owner. With a rental company, yeah, it's one owner but with a crap load of semi owners(renters). So that means different driving habits, great, good, bad, horrible. You can't tell me that everyone that possibly drove that truck drove it with care and responsibility.

 

51k on my 2010 and I drive it daily 73k I don't think is that bad especially if its all highway driving

 

Have the truck inspected/drive it and if it all checks out good who cares who all drove the truck if it has had proper maintenance and nothing is wrong with it. It looks super clean from the pics and doubt it was a rental w/ those wheels on it??

 

I have 69k on my 2005, but I don't drive much.

 

Its probably highway miles right? It more than likely hasn't been offroaded. Not a bad truck but I'm not sure if the price point is right for a base model.

 

IMO not a bad price being a 4x4

Thanks for the pointers guys. Didn't realize it was a 4cyl either until mentioned. The problem he's running into is he wants an AC or DC for around $20k. Since these things hold their value so well, its slim pickings. I'll tell him to drive it and check the body to make sure its good w/ no rust and negotiate down the price if he's serious.
