Hey everyone! First time poster with a quick question. I'm looking into buying a Tacoma and I want the groups input. I found a Tacoma TX recently with everything I have been looking for in options, powertrain etc. I have been watching it for the past few weeks but haven't had the chance yet to make it to the dealer. I noticed today they dropped the price by $3k. That makes me nervous because I feel as good as these trucks are on holding resale value, they shouldn't have to drop the price. I'll post the link and look forward to your advice. Thanks.

Go tell them you want it for more money. :notsure:

Until you drive that truck, who knows why. Maybe they want it gone. Car sales is the business, not car volume.

Give them a call and ask why. Could be anything. From my experience a dealership won't drop a price on a rig because of problems. They usually fix the problem if it's a well known dealership. Because they don't want to sell something that is broken and could give them a bad reputation. The truck I bought had a really bad winding noise inside my axle. They fixed it the next day after I looked at it and then bought it that day. No extra cost for getting it fixed before I bought it either. If you really want the truck and if it does have a problem and it's just a minor problem under 1k then they might fix it for you no extra cost so they can get it off there lot. Just make sure it has somewhat of a warranty like (3k mile warranty/3 month) so they fix it right. If there's no warranty then they might rig it up to make a temporary fix. Hope this helps you out man. Goodluck!

I’m shocked it’s not already sold. If you want it you better go get it! Don’t screw around for weeks day dreaming.

Have them remove the bull bar before you get there.

The fact that they lowered the price doesn't change the fact that you have to check the truck out completely before you buy it. There either is a problem or there isn't.

The fact that it's got some mods and the manual transmission probably limits the number of buyers for it. If you like the mods and manual than this could be a win for you. Low ball em.

Sometimes dealers mark up the price $5k so they can lower it $3K and you wont ask for more of a discount. Instead of starting it at the $3k less price to begin with.

"What do you mean you want a discount? We already marked down the price $3K, it's a steal!"

I can guarantee you two things:

They still have profit in the vehicle at the current price. And they will not sell it at a loss.

While you can buy it from your computer, it works better to go in and see what the condition is yourself. Take it to an independent garage to have it inspected if you doubt the condition but if you snooze, you might lose.

Just wanted to follow up on this post. Went and checked it out. Looked great! Dealer said it had a clear title but when I asked for a vehicle history report it showed it was in a crash with front end damage and that's when he started back peddling. Classic case of buyer beware.

Good job on the history report, but some damage can be very minor,so who knows.A lady back into my 1 year old Tacoma and did $500 in damage too the rear fender, basically scratched it and broke the tail light housing,so for someone too say my truck is now worth avoiding because it was in a (crash)is stupid.

    It's Tax refund season.
All Car dealers are looking to close a deal.
A little crash report didn't hurt nothi' as long as it drives straight and doesn't dog tail down the road.
