For those of you buying 2016 Tacomas, what mods do you have planned?

I now have a TRD OR 4x4 DCSB MT now "on order" (an allocated truck that I have a deposit on).

    Early mods
I am going to put Icon coilovers and shocks on mine, with aftermarket UCAs (likely Total Chaos). Still thinking though rear leaf options. Looking for a 2 in lift on this truck. I have been very happy with the Icons on my 2nd gen. Also a camper shell and bed mat.

    Later mods
I will be looking for full aluminum skids on the 2016, when they become available. Front receiver for my receiver winch.

New rear leafs for hauling or air bags if it's a better option. I plan on using the bed to move shit and offroading it at other times

DCLB TRD OR 4x4 V6 Automatic with Tow Package

so do you get a 6' bed or 5'. I was hoping to get an access cab with MT and 6' bed but might -- just might -- deign to get a DC with MT. But it has to have a 6' bed

Limited in Blue, with Tow Package. If I really do not like the automatic, I'll get a TRD Pro, manual, with all the Limited-type trimmings. I also will swap with people for as many of the chrome parts ad I can (bumper, grille, etc). It appears no one wants them, so I'll swap!

Who are you guys kidding, the first mod you'll do is to add truck balls to go with the girthy 3.5L engine jks.

Keep in mind 2nd Gen suspension may not fit perfectly. There were some minor changes made to the 15 which made OME stuff not fit on some 2015's and that may translate to minor issues with suspension on the 2016.

Wow, I didn't think it was possible but those mud terrains and some sweet wheels actually make that front end a lot more tolerable.

    Nice work.

Retractable locking tonneau, nerf bars, roof rack, exhaust tip, mobileye, hopefully trade grilles with someone with a Limited or SR5 who wants too much bling.

Eventually, I'd like to figure out how to connect an actuator to the rear window to make it electric. Why Toyota isn't just doing that is beyond me.

Also thinking about lowering it an inch or two. Nothing crazy. I just prefer a lower ride height, and I don't plan on doing crazy off-roading in my $35k 4x2.

Swap the rear axle for a Dana 60, 3 link the rear, cut the frame 16 inches from the rear axles, and flatbed it. Also, put in 35 inch Nitto Grappler.

    Um...it's a Prius. No mods.
This configure doesn't exist. No DCLB w/ MT. Some of us wish, but it isn't avail.

Leaving mostly stock for a while.

One thing I will get right away is an extra set of rims and studded snow tires. I'm liking the look of these Micky Thompson Classic III Black rims

They are simple and would work well in the winter I think (not many places for snow and ice to accumulate and un-balance the wheel compared to other rims). I also like that the M/T is a sort of shout out to the manual transmission. I would get them in 16x8 and wrap a set of 265/70r16 snow tires around them.

I will keep the stock rims and tires for the summer. Of course this means I will need to deal with the TPMS issue if I don't want to look at a light on my dash for half the year. I wish there was a switch that I could just turn the system off in the winter... Maybe I can figure out how to add one...

Then maybe a topper down the line.

No mods planned. TRD, AC, AT, LB.

    Three trips planned --
    1) PNW, nothing difficult off road.
    2) Family mining claim, far north CA, easy off road
    3) Depending on rains, serious desert back country in CA

The real push will be next year post-rains and going out with friends in areas that require building roads on occasion (extension of (3)).
