After a good bit of reading posts here I'm beginning to realize the stock inverter in the truck bed isn't really capable of running all that much. My thought of running an 1 gallon air compressor off it won't work, so I'm wondering what you guys run off the stock inverter as delivered? Would like to get some ideas of what actually works. Thanks! :)

When camping I run a battery charger to recharge some 12 volt batteries that I use for camp lights and my CPAP. That’s just about all I use mine for.

@Alamo72 That's interesting. This was the original idea I had but with the Makita version of your compressor. When I posted a thread and asked if I could run it off the inverter the consensus was no.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
I use it when traveling to power a small coffee maker. However the coffee maker is about 500 watts so I have to reset the breaker a number times to make a pot of coffee. It also powers the China-made inflator for my air mattress. Other than those 2 items I suppose it MIGHT run the charger for my tablet but have yet to try. Tried to run a small fridge during a power outage but that was a fail. It's only good for about 3.3 to 3.6 amps which makes it pretty much useless for most power tools.

Hi- you have to verify your current draw. The harbor freight one is only like 2.8A. I specifically purchased it for it’s compatibility with the truck and it’s db rating.

I run this compressor off it with out any issue. Slow to build up air but does the job.

The Makita says 3 amps, Fortress @ Harbor Freight is 2.8 amps. 58 and 57 db respectively, and $10 price difference. Not sure if the 2.8 to 3 amps makes any difference.

That's likely the steady state draw, they may have a higher peak draw that is causing the issue.

I recently used it to cut down the length of the new u bolts on my suspension. I was doubtful that it would work, but it did a better than expected job. The angle grinder ran a full speed but had much less torque. So, it took longer which was no big deal.

Interesting....I called Makita tech support to find out the peak draw at startup on their 1 gallon compressor. They said they didn't have that spec but were very adamant that the company does not recommend running that compressor off an inverter. Wonder if that's your basic CYA or if it's valid....
