What do you think about foam insulation in access cab rear storage?

I am about to add a sub to my 2020 access cab and thought since I'll have the carpet up I would throw on some kilmat to deaden the road noise coming from the rear wall while I'm at it. I only bought one 36 sqft pack and I don't think I'll waste a bunch of those square feet by removing the plastic insert for the underseat storage and lining the metal of the trough, BUT I'm a little concerned about this JL audio stealthbox 10 inch down-firing sub sitting between my jump seats on top of the storage insert, just rattling it like crazy; so, I have considered spray foam under the plastic tub in the storage to keep it still and help with road noise. Has anyone done this yet? Is this a horrible idea for some reason I haven't thought of?

I am thinking of doing something similar-- can you give some details of your project? What is the size of the stealth box-- maybe a few pics? I don't think I would use spray foam in a vehicle, probably better off cushioning directly under the box with rubber matting-- I have used those interlocking foam garage floor squares before, and they work great.

I just threw a bunch of those foam tiles away making room for the new Tacoma in the garage!
Here’s the box I’m going to use:

I may be trying to solve problems before I have them with this. I do that sometimes. The wiring harness finally arrived today and the last of my wiring should be arriving Friday (NOBODY around me had ANY wiring! I had to order it all online) so I can put the amp and box in this weekend and we’ll see how awful the rattles are before I start spraying foam around. If I do use spray foam. I’ve heard of people using it in doors for sound deadening so I figured it would be an easy way to take up the irregular space under the plastic tray that sits in the trough under the jump seats... I’ll keep you posted

Definitely looks like an awesome setup! It looks like a great solution for the sub— I was going to go with an under seat powered sub, but it seems most people are underwhelmed by them. Your system should sound way better. Do you mind telling me how you’re installing your line-out converter for your amp? I was going to splice into my factory wiring because I couldn’t find a harness for the 2020 head unit. Were you able to find a better solution?

    As per a different thread...

Post #17 starts talking about it.
Evidently, the 2018 and up Camry wire harness from taco tunes works for our 2020 non JBL Tacoma’s.... we’ll see!

oh, and about 10 years ago I had a 90’s single cab taco mini truck that I put a blaupunkt powered 8 inch sub under the seat that just didn’t do it. It’s like our door speakers now: you can hear the bass, and that’s ok; but, what you really want is to feel the bass, and that takes moving some air. Just my opinion.

Can anyone confirm what harness will work with third gen non jbl systems?

to put an end to THIS thread - i pulled the tub insert out of the under jumpseat storage and found that i dont really need any insulation under it as i thought i might. what i ended up doing was using the sound deadening mat that i had used on the back wall and doors and covered the sheet metal but the plastic tub itself was only solid on the drivers side and wide open on the passenger side to accomodate the jack and hardware plus the solid parts were so far away from the sheet metal, there wouldnt be any chance of the plastic rattling because of my sub. it seems i was trying to solve a problem that i didnt even have.
