Definitely, I'd unload that off your hands if you were closer. I'd love to have a little 5 lugger for the summer commute! But man they're a rarity in Montana.
They're great trucks and as simple as it gets for old Toyotas. 4 cylinder, 5 speed manual and a bed, bulletproof combination with decent mileage readings to boot. Much better than the 15mpg my 4WD is getting currently.

Thanks man, but I am not looking to sell now anyway. Just bought it in December, I am thinking the same as you. :) 26 mpg is pretty nice. Just was curious as to what it might be worth.

How much would you guys be willing to pay for my truck? It's a '98 V6 PreRunner Ext Cab, 183k miles, recent new frame, WAAG brush guard, Toyota bedliner, and Bilsteins (not 5100s though, for some reason the number isn't coming to me, but they're basically stock but with "Bilstein" on them).

Ha, still too far though! But I'm in no hurry to get one, just be nice for summertime is all. I'll probably wind up with a basic used Subaru Impreza honestly, those are literally everywhere around here for dirt cheap.

20171015_173444.jpg paid 8k for my 04 prerunner. Did shocks, rims, found a canopy for 200 bucks. It would cost decent money to get me to sell it.

Here's my long beloved Gen1. Bought my 2017 about a year ago. Have hung onto it, but may let it go. Located in SoCal. Let me know what you think. I've got someone interested.

Pics look a little better than in person, but spent the last weekend cleaning, detailing, and waxing. Still a damn good lookin' truck.

KBB says worth about $6500. But I'm not so sure I buy that...especially in SoCal.

    2002 4x4 DC SR5
    242k miles

ARB Bull Bar (pulled the winch out for the Gen3)
    Piaa Pro 80 XT's
King Coils front w/ 700lb springs (3 years, 5k miles)
    NWOR Shackles rear
    Bilsteins rear
    Built Right UCA's (5k miles)
    Tundra calipers and rotors front
    SS braided brake lines front
    UWS Tool Box
    Tow hitch
Transmission Cooler (one of the first things I put on it).
    Towing Brakes Controller
    New motor mounts (5k miles)
    New CV axles (5k miles)
5x new Goodyear AT Adventure (less than 300 miles, pulled them off the Gen3 when I bought it)
    Recent new LCA's and LBJ's (5k miles)
    Steering rack 10k miles

    Sat Radio Receiver
    IPOD Dock
    110v inverter behind rear seat
    New windshield (as of yesterday)

No leaks. Had it parked in same spot last year, not a drop of fluid on the ground.

    What doesn't work:

ABS. Pulled fuse about 14 years ago with about 10k miles on the truck when it tried to kill me going down a steep snow covered dirt road. Put it back in years later, and still had fault. Pulled it and left it out. Not willing to troubleshoot or spend a dime to fix it.

Damage driver side rear bed. Replaced bumper and tail light, left the dent / scrape.
Minor damage right front fender. Small dent. When dent repair went to pop it out, paint popped. Dent gone, but so is a little paint.

Few dings and scratches. Desert pinstripes (quite a few). Original paint. Pea sized spot of clear coat gone on hood. Bed has been used, and looks like it. Other than that, paint pretty solid. Has been garaged most of its life.

It has been off roaded hard, but has been taken care of and I've kept up on maintenance. Hate a leaking vehicle. If it leaks, it gets fixed. If it goes bad it gets fixed. Not that much has ever gone wrong with it. Best damn vehicle I've ever owned.

I'm thinking realistically worth in the $8k range. Would try for more, but with the couple of dents and ABS out, thinking that is fair.

Backed into a tree. Replaced light and bumper. Left the scrape and dent.
    0-dmg-20180311_175211.jpg

RV backed into me and left a dent. Had it pulled by the local paintless dent repair guy, and paint popped about a quarter sized area. Didn't bother me enough to spend cash to fix it.
    20180311_181934.jpg

Upholstery and carpet pretty good. Couple small cig burns visible below from back in my smoking days 10+ years ago. No tears. No smell of smoke (it has had 10 years to air out and multiple cleanings). Rub spots on rear door fabric panels from camping / hunting gear.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
All of them that aren't 5 lug or manual should have it.

Also I bought my 96 4cyl Auto extracab 4x4 for $2k. Now it's a manual and we'll equipped for overlanding but it's still pretty cheap all things considered. I spent over half the things price just redoing the rear last month though :/

Good thread. This is my 5th Tacoma, will be the last. 2004 PreRunner, traveled many miles to get it. Just installed new mud guards front and back, not cheap, from
Toyota Parts. Brought it home, installed new Michelin LTX/MS Defenders, rear window latches, new scuff guards, all expensive. Now sanding out and buffing some of the clear coat areas, light scratches.
Have to straighten front bumper dent. The previous owner did not do the recall on the spare tire area, already scheduled with local Toyota dealer. Frame is fine.
V-6 runs like a well oiled sewing machine. All maintenance records from day one. Religious on the oil changes, inspections, etc. Got the build sheet, all there.

Currently my 03 DC V6 2wd with 188k is up for sale for 9,500.
I've had a handful of lowballs(5,500-7,000), but no serious offers.
THought I had a buyer yesterday but he backed out.

I think 9,500 is a decent price for a double cab is that 4WD then is underpriced , when I was looking the less expensive that I found at DFW area was 12,500 TRD 4WD with 179,000 miles

    it's 2wd.

It's funny how some areas are not interested at all and in others, the phone rings off the hook. I've listed it in San Jose, SF, and Santa Cruz. 75% of the interest is from Santa Cruz.
