I'm thinking of buying one for 31k. What are your thoughts on this vehicle vs a 2012 TRD Sport package 4x4. What's your preference

All preference but I MUCH prefer the look of the sport. The limited will give you fake leather seats, fake chrome wheels and chrome bumpers as opposed to the far more sexy color matched ones on the sport

You live in San Diego, so weather isn't an issue for 4x4. Limited comes with a lot of chrome which people don't like as much, but you can plastidip it easy enough. I like 4x4 for playing, but if you just want a nicely equipped pickup you're probably fine with that.

limited is just a base model with leather seats... afaik.....

if 4x4 DCSB / Access cab is what you want go with the TRD OR, for the rear locker n atrac

if 4x4 and DCLB is what you want go with the sport.

This is the 2012 I'm referring to. I'm very new to this and I'm actually not Mike, I'm his wife I'm trying to surprise him with a truck. And I'm comparing the 2015 limited to this truck that I'm about to post for you that I found on classifieds. What are your thoughts which one should I get? The 2012 has 35,000 miles on it. Here is the description:

2012 Toyota Tacoma fuel : gas transmission : automatic title status : clean
Purchased brand new as a CEO vehicle for looks only, this pick-up is a highway queen, never worked with. It is fully loaded with every option available from Toyota,4x4, Sport Pkg, Tow Pkg, JBL sound system with GPS & ENTUNE, reverse camera & Satellite HD radio, Auto dimming rear view mirror with temp & compass, Side curtain Air bags. Added from Toyota: Front skid plate, Running Boards, Roof rack, Hood protector, 4 windows wind visors, Bed non-slippery mat. Also added: Flow-Master American thunder dual stainless steel exhaust, BF Goodrich all terrain tires (purchased at 15K Miles) filled with nitrogen, Rolling bed cover by Roll N Lock, LED lights for the bed, interior lights are all LED, New tail lights are LED and came smoked from factory, front windows tinted medium to match the privacy glass, Headlight and fog lights are Sylvania, K&N Air filter, TRD emblems on front grille & on Tail gate.Car is in perfect condition, all maintenance done at Toyota on time ,parked inside a garage, never driven in the rain, detailed every week by hand, non-smoker, rear & passenger seat never sat on, extra clean car inside and out, not a scratch, clean title, Still under factory warranty + Extended warranty until 125,000 Miles from Toyota!!!Also Have the original tail lights and original exhaust, original window sticker, 2 sets of keys and all manuals. No modifications done, all accessories was professionally installed, tastefully and for good looks.Lots of money with no spare spent on this truck!Great truck, drives and smell like brand New! Just paid 2015 Registration ! The truck just had full major service @Toyota of San Diego which include:Oil change, spark plugs and wires, front brakes, all differential fluids changed, tires rotation.

Thanks in advance for your help.

FWIW, the heated "fake" leather seats on my 2013 Limited were awesome. The chrome clad 18's held up very well over two nasty Northeast winters, and the JBL sound system alone was worth the price of admission. Best stock stereo I have ever had in a vehicle. It was a great truck...

Get a TRD sport long bed with 4x4 and the JBL sound system. Then you can get custom leather seats put in. That would be much better.

How much cheaper is the '12? if the prices are about the same, and considering u live in San Diego(and he likes leather & chrome), I think u should definitely go with the "brand new" '15 Limited...

Value is only based on your satisfaction really. Don't worry about others opinions. I have a limited and I love it. For me, it was exactly what I wanted. I knew every detail about it before buying it and for how I intended to use the vehicle it is perfect. I specifically didn't want to modify it to achieve the features it has. I just wanted a stock truck with some pleasant features and legendary tacoma ability and reliability. I enjoy driving it every day. The seats are great and the stereo is a very solid stock system. I have modded so many cars and trucks prior to this one. I am just wanted a comfortable clean truck with no questions about warranty or dealing with the often questionable longevity of aftermarket parts.

My only complaint, if even that, is that the wheels are a plastic cover bonded to the alloy. I knew this, but I would have preferred a polished aluminum wheel like the 4 runner or the sport. The wheels will likely get swapped for oem 4Runner wheels once the tires are shot.

I had a 11 trd sport in the past. It was great but I like my limited much better. It makes me happy and that's all I set out to achieve.

Its the top trim level commanding 31k, not everybody wants or needs 4x4 and want a nice highway cruiser.

Is anyone else thinking the surprise will be ruined when Mike logs on and checks for any new updates in the threads he's posted in?
