This will be my first lease (and my first truck). $2,999 down with $220 a month for a 36 month lease. That includes taxes and fees. It's a silver 2020 4x4 V6 SR Double Cab with likely nothing else on it, but I will see tomorrow as they have to drive it in from another dealer.

This is less than my stepdad paid for his mostly equivalent (it was an access cab) Tacoma four years ago here in Cleveland, OH. I figure it's probably a fairly good deal but I am wondering if I should push for a little more of a discount as I haven't done much real negotiating yet. I did give them a $500 deposit but have signed no paperwork as of yet.

I'm going to go to another dealership tomorrow morning and will see what they quote me with my Costco membership.

What do you guys think? And thanks for your thoughts/time.

    Chris

Sounds like a good deal ! maybe make it an even $200 flat !! But tbh you will end up modding it :)

Is that something you can live with? That's not a lot of miles.

I'd love to mod it! Not sure you can do that with a lease though?

I'd say no. But its debatable. A lot goes into that. With what you're putting down and 10k miles a year, aim for 200 even or less. If they dont go for it, keep shopping

I can. I am disabled with MS and other autoimmune issues so it makes me low energy and not able to get out as much as I'd like. I put 11k on my 2016 Mustang in the first 3 years I owned it. The Tacoma will be used to pull a small travel trailer around the country a bit, so it will see more use that the Mustang, but 10k a year should work fine.

I can put down the entire lease upfront lease if I want but they said that will not change the total price.

It will ALWAYS change the total price. It's called a 1-pay lease payment. It usually drops the total a small amount, maybe 2-3 grand depending on the vehicle. They are playing games now. They make more money on long term payments

That's what I thought too. She said it would drop the lease by a few hundred if I did that.

Before signing I highly suggest you look at the lease hacker forum. There is a broker I believe in PA who makes phenomenal deals on Tacoma trucks. I have seen some deals that better than what you posted for higher trim levels.

For an SR for 10k/year lease you should be able to get a better deal. Or get a 19. If you aren’t after the led headlights

I have seen 1 pay leases drop the total as low as 500. So it does happen. But generally it will always drop it some at least. So dont let them tell you different. If you have to, contact the leasing company they are using directly. You can also shop around with different leasing companies. Some will drop it more just to have your business. The dealer will feed you bullshit saying you have to use the leasing company they have, but that's not true at all

Also, they'll try to tell you that only toyota is offering that deal and others cant Match it. Also not true. Any leasing company can match it with the public residual value and money factor. Which they will have on hand

That's what he goes off based on the deal best for them. Not what they can actually do. Also, he's using Ally bank, you have plenty of wiggle room. If he was using toyota financial it would be a tight margin. Keep shopping

Keep in mind Costco varies by region, so even though the Costco deals are good in the western US they may not be good where you’re at. Also if you are going to go through Costco DO NOT walk into a dealer and ask them to give you the Costco deal. Fill out an inquiry on the Costco auto site and Costco will refer to a close by dealer who should honor their price. Remember many car dealers are A holes and are not looking out for you best interest, they are making money for the owner of the dealer. You’re best bet will be to contact that broker, you will not get a better deal than that, and you’ll most likely spin your wheels trying to get close to his numbers on your own.
