Found this the other night. Not sure how or when it happened. Sucks though.

I haven't got any estimates yet, but am curious as to how big of a deal this will be to repair, and cost of course.

In person, it looks to be several dents, side by side.

I've got full coverage, but a pretty high deductible also. 20211106_101955.jpg 20211106_101950.jpg

Even with the paint chipped at the bottom of the crease?

    It probably didn't photo well.

PDR can get it straightish, but your going to need painting there to fix it right.

Im going to say depending on how much they want to blend, you should be in the ballpark of $1000-$2000.

Some shops will want to blend into the doors since its right there on a panel line. They wont blend the roof since the black trim is wide enough.

Had something similar happen back in college during a bad storm. Dented the top of my C pillar in a bad spot. They had to pull the dent and repaint. They painted a good ways down the C-pillar even removing the factory clear rock chip guard near the bottom of the cab.

That was just going to the dealers body shop though and paying the deductible.

Depending on how much it bothers you I would try paintless dent repair which will be able to remove most of the dent and then buy a touch up paint with clear from Toyota to fix the paint chip. Probably all in cost would be 200

Might be tough for a PDR guy to get back there. Little access from behind. Also the curtain airbag is likely in the way. A pdr guy will likely have to drill a hole to access which is no good.

Could get expensive real quick to do it correctly. Likely have to remove the curtain airbag to properly repair.

Totally agree I had damage to my front fender but PDR was able to access from the engine bay. They would have to somehow suction the « lows » and not sure if they could gain access from the back

Looks like someone tried to break in.

Go to PDR and have them ballpark it for you. I went in for my rocker and told they guy I was looking for a 4 out of 10 job, pull it as best he can, paint it to stop rust. Did a great job, wasn't worth insurance it was a few hundred bucks. I have white though so it hides a lot of sins.

I thought so too, but there is no damage to the door. I would think prying on the door would leave damage to that and/or the door seal inside. I also would think prying elsewhere would be more effective, but I'm not an auto thief so don't really know.

I did have a PDR guy do an excellent job on a motorcycle gas tank a couple of years ago. I was pretty amazed. There was no damage to the paint on that though, just a small ripple from before I purchased.

I'll swing by and get his thoughts, as well as from an actual body shop using my deductible and insurance.

I'd try paintless dent repair first and if successful then do a little touch up paint as you're not likely to see it in that location all of the time. If a body shop has to start blending doors with the roof it might be noticeable. Of course, some shops are really good and you may never notice once it's fixed. :notsure:

Keep in mind that your insurance may go up for 3 years if you make the insurance pay. Not sure of your coverage though.

……or put a big ole lift on the truck and you won’t see it!

Hard to see in the pictures but almost looks like the damage occurred when the door was open?
