Just wondering what do you guys use to remove the old oil plug gasket from the oil plug when your doing your oil changes? and how come it sticks on there like its on with some sort of glue?

This blue part on the gasket is what im talking about (what looks like a washer)

I was trying to put a new one on when I did the 5k oil change but its stuck on there like if its glued on there lol and I didnt want to risk peeling off the blue coating trying to pry it loose.

Do you change yours every time you do an oil change? (the blue washer)

They say the blue one is reusable and black one is one time use. I always change it every oil change.

razor blade and heat gun. comes off clean. Get a Fumoto valve and never have to mess with the plug again.

I get it off the drain plug with the oil pan because mine usually sticks to that.

That works for Tacoma's? I did get the Motivx Tools Metal Wrench Tool and drain tool but I didnt get anything for the drain plug.

Edit: I just checked out the Fumoto website, it looks like they have more than one type of drain plug valve for the 3rd Gen Tacoma's, which ones your favorite?

Which Fumoto valve do you find the easiest to work with?

    Which Fumoto is your favorite?

The blue gasket will go a whole lot of oil changes, those things work great. I use them on anything they fit, they're perfect for Nissan and some Honda motors.

I have a 133N installed on my Tacoma. I believe the FJ has the same valve, but the short nipple

I worked as a Toyota tech for about 10 years. I always popped these off with a small pocket flat screw driver. We changed them on every oil change, although that's not strictly necessary. They rarely leak if reused, so long as they aren't damaged.

I have 133S (short, L - long, N - no nipple) since I have the adapter to attach a hose for ‘cleaner’ oil removal.

    all 3 fit fine.

My favorite Fumoto valve is the 'Valvomax'.

I've had the black oem washer forever on my tundra and never change it, nor it leaked. Sometimes when you don't scrap off every particle on that oil pan, or drain bolt, then add a new washer, it'll leak. Imo, don't go looking to create more problems. If it ain't leaking, don't replace the washer.

Problem with Fumoto is they take forEVER do drain out that little hole. Any particles or sludge has a chance to settle before it drains. Open the stock drain plug and the oil come gushing out in comparison. I had a Fumoto on my Tundra but the novelty wore off quick. Now I use a magnetic plug. To each the own I suppose.

I use a pocket knife, my finger nails, screwdriver, hammer, channel locks, or razor blade to get the gasket off. I replace it every time I have one on hand which is almost every time. I can understand that most 3rd Gen owners the love for Fumoto since their hands are supple and dealing with a ratchet is difficult, but I make do with the regular ol' drain plug.
