fair enough….sorry I jumped the gun.

Someone not cleaning their truck does not preclude you from cleaning yours.

This would be my 3rd vehicle with aftermarket wheels, I had black 20 inch on a car before they where 2Crave wheels, then on another car I had 20 inch chromes STAR wheels, Now this is my first truck ever and I love my tacoma way more then my to cars I had in the pass, I do about 99.9% driving on the streets not going to see much mud or dirt roads

Most of this is just good natured ribbing. It’s the mall crawler vs. wheeler thing.

I try and detail my Tacoma twice a year to protect the paint. The tires usually look fine after a wash and scrub.

My 2nd Gen Sport got washed, waxed and tire shined constantly, but it was a mall crawler.

To each their own…but certain topics one should expect a good ribbing….

In the 70’s my dad painted cars in the garage (restorations) I used brake fluid on the tires. It made them look like new not shiny. They didn’t have anything at the time, a little bit goes a long way and everyone had some in the garage.

That’s a good one and I use something like it for my wheel wells. I use something like this for the tire itself:

Brake fluid is corrosive and eats rubber and paint. I guess it looks good doing it though

a little off-topic maybe, but this indicates UV protection - would this product be good for the oem tonneau cover? I have noticed mine starting to fade a bit from the sun and wondering if there is some kind of UV protectant I should be using.

Thanks, OK back to the tire shine vs mud debate...

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
    303!

Doesn't give rubber/plastic a shine, but restores to a natural deep satin finish. It's also a great UV protectant so it will preserve the plastic/rubber. the only downside I've seen of 303 is it doesn't last long.
