So here’s the deal, we haven’t had cable/sat in over 7 years. We have streamed everything in multiple different ways, whether its off a laptop that I don't have anymore or off my iPad or the main thing we use is my Xbox 1.

My questions is we are planning on moving and I will have a “man cave” area to put my xbox so I can play games downstairs. Problem is now what do I use to stream stuff full time with? I was thinking Apple TV so I can just throw my iPad up on the tv or maybe roku. We do have a smart tv but really don't use it like its intended to be used. I mainly stream stuff off apps like espn, Netflix, fox, pac12 network, tnt, among others. I do use reddit at times to stream things which is why I use my IPad mainly. Any thoughts on which way I should lean without having to get a bunch of subscriptions to make it worth it??

PS It would score mega points if whatever I got could use the xfinity streaming app since I can use my parents account if needed but I have been running into issues of it not being able to connect to my tv via IPad and lightning to HDMI connector.

I use an internet ready TV. No box, no duplicate subscriptions. No cable/sat. One remote. All Wi-Fi.

we use ROKU or my work pc.

We have a "smart" LG tv but it's not smart enough to have an HBO app. I'm going to make it a dumb tv again just so i can have one less thing tracking me

I stream pretty much everything from my AppleTV 4K to my LG OLED.. Text me what apps you're looking for and I can let you know if it has them available or not.

I can use it there but then that leaves nothing to stream from in the living room.

got it. If you use your TV to stream you're probably going to need an additional device like a Firestick, Ruko to get certain apps. Might be easier to get another Xbox so you can stream, that's what I do now so I can stream in our family room and office.

I use google chromecast and a raspberry pi. I can stream from any app that supports chromecast (a lot of the major ones do outside of the competition) and I sync data from my server to my raspberry pi or my phone can cast via VLC player.
