    Exactly…

Why people are afraid of electric is beyond me, just another evolutionary step in the automotive industry. EVs are already proving they’ll be a better performance vehicle. Just need to figure out better energy storage.

Like the looks of the Rivian over the Ford and Ram, doesn’t need chest puffing machismo making up for inadequacies styling.

I've done a mod or two
Every person I've met that has a RAM as their daily (not talking workmen using a company truck) has been more pathetic than the last, it's just the ultimate dick supplement "murica" truck brand. I'm not a fan of the gimmicky things in the Rivian, but if you could get one of them that was just a super base model with with the same drivetrain/suspension setup, I'd have to consider it, WAs grid is good and I have 60a plug for the welders I could piggyback a EV charger into. My electricity bill has never been over $50 a month, even if that went up $100-$200 from EV charging (unlikely) it would save me nearly $500 on fuel a month still

Yeah not crazy about current Toyotas styling either, must be going after the viagra market. Like the old days when they were more subdued looking. Some of the gimmicky stuff could go, love the clean almost midcentry modern look of it. Interior especially super clean….unlike the new Tundra where it looks like a fighter jet cockpit.

Believe I could make a Rivian work, just got back from a 5 day dirt bike/dispersed camping trip, not a cloud in the sky parked next to a high flow creek…might be able to charge it enough with a solar/mini hydro system. Though just to camp was 232 miles round trip, could do it on a single charge. Did do a bunch of running around that added another 180 miles. So just a touch over 100 miles beyond the Rivian’s range. Hydro generator could run 24 hours a day.

Cost of ownership could take 10 years to pay to equal a Tacoma. Idaho generates 74% of its instate power from renewables. https://www.eia.gov/state/analysis.php?sid=ID Not too too bad. Funny how guys go straight to coal powered argument right away.

Soooo, would like 400 mile range, 300hp/300tq….and faster recharge times out of an EV Tacoma…and oh yeah OTD for $40K.

Price is unknown at this point. I believe under the new senate bill, batteries and assembly must be in the US. Right now Tacomas are assembled in Mexico.

Well the battery and components must be US sourced. Toyota is building a battery and component plant now in North Carolina. Also I suspect a new Tacoma would be under $80,000. But we'll see.

They get 300+ miles a charge? I'll take it.

I would like an electric truck that is like the current Tacoma but with an electric power train. No gimmicks, no giant screen, normal AC knobs, no pop out door handles, no stupid shit to break. It also needs to be priced similar to the gas equivalent. There’s no point in switching to an EV and dealing with the range and charging headaches plus installing a charging station at home if you aren’t going to save any money not needing gas.

Going to have as much luck as the guys who pine for a diesel Tacoma with a manual trans, t-case, windows, and hubs…

I’m sure you’re correct. I don’t understand why car manufacturers think we need so many gimmicks and stupid Easter egg logos all over the cars. Another thing I don’t have a need for is a tailgate that can do 87 different configurations.

I was just watching a video on the new Canyon. The headlights can only be turned on through the infotainment screen. I definitely don’t want that in the new Tacoma.
