For sure. The short term environmental impact of EVs is definitely big when it comes to mining the lithium and building the renewable infrastructure, but in the long term its way less than ICEs

It's amazing how many post false info about EV's and have done zero research. There are plenty of other threads and facts out there and discussed on TW. Some just spout false info and think they are fact.

Solid state battery and different cell advancement will reduce lithium and cobalt use significantly.

Don't really mind EVs, I don't like the wind/solar side. Nuclear energy is by far the best option for reducing emissions and modern water controlled reactors are 100% incapable of melting down.

I 100% agree that nuclear is a viable option. Only downside is byproduct. Wind/solar on the other hand would eventually be free energy when built at scale.

Walmart is using green hydrogen for their forklifts in the US. A good test of green hydrogen production. Small steps.

Not entirely true, wind turbines and solar panels definitely have limited life spans. The actually high radioactive waste from a nuclear, the crap with a 300k year half life is very limited, most waste is like Co59 with a half life of like 5 years. The bad stuff can just be put in a big concrete room and monitored with little issue.

It’s equally amazing how many people read two articles and believe they are certified experts.

You are correct that they have a limited lifespan. What we should also think about is how during their lifespan the energy created can produce replacement products for free, while recycling the old.

The problem with the byproduct is exponential though. The more energy we need the more byproduct and at some point a few hundred years from now it could become an issue to store.

not really all you need is concrete and storage is easy, also the high waste from a nuclear reactor isn't very much, only .2% by volume is high waste if you do it right. Also important to note yon are not adding any radiation that isn't already existing in nature its already there in the ground emitting and not hurting anyone. sticking it in a concrete box is like the exact same thing.

As long as it has the Raptor lights and a power front seat as oem so we dont have to see or hear about that anymore.

The really good news is that since all electrics are produced almost grill-less, the ugliness of the 3rd gen behemoth grille will be gone.

But I still won't buy one.

A hybrid I'd consider as a next replacement for our RAV. But barring an accident I foresee no reason to ever get rid of my Tacoma. I'll be unable to safely drive before it ever wears out. :D

I saw this awesome thing once. Proof of concept phase still maybe. IDK.

Basically. A bouie in the ocean, with a connecting rod and crankshaft. The tides are endless and have infinite power. The rise and fall of the tides make the bouie act like a piston. You get the idea.

Well I’m definitely no kind of expert but the electric cars right now don’t really impress me much. The current battery tech is going to degrade over time just like a cellphone and it will still work but won’t retain the max charge capacity and performance. They only have so many charging cycles and then the battery is going to need replacement. And lets say they give it a range of 300 miles. Look at how people use there tacos and ask yourself how that will affect range. Add bigger tires 500+lbs of over landing gear maybe even a trailer and that range is going to be significantly reduced. Plus there won’t be any kind of charging stations in the remote places people like to take these trucks so what then drag along a large generator? And it will definitely cost more there is no getting around that. This is just personal opinion of course but I just don’t see any real practicality of ev tacoma with the current technology. I think it’s more of a trend at this point then any real benefit.
