When I look up parts for my 2021 Tacoma SR5 double cab 4x4 on Toyota’s website I only see an option for SR5 GLX. Wth does GLX mean? Also, Toyota seems to call a short bed a “long bed”. Odd nomenclature.

That’s what I thought. So if the only option I can pick when selecting parts for my v6 AT sr5 double cab 4x4 short bed is, “V6 AT Double Cab SR5 GLX” does that imply it’s the short bed? There doesn’t seem to be a short vs long bed selection when you set your vehicle selection on the Toyota parts site. Also, in the parts descriptions they talk about “long bed” as if it’s the short bed and “extra long bed” as the long - I think?

If you are referring to this set of options on parts.Toyota.com, I’ve been confused by it as well. There is no option for my trd off-road 6mt, but there is an option for a sr5 6mt which doesn’t exist.

Toyota always has the internal grades, internal packages, and then what marketing ends up wanting to call things. They don't always match.

There are technically only three grades for 2005-2022 Tacomas:

    Base (Code D, 2005-2015)
    SR5/GLX (Code S, 2016-2022)
    Limited (Code L. 2016-2022)

SR5 is the marketing name for the standard SR5/GLX Grade
SR is a decontent package for the SR5/GLX Grade
    TRD Sport/TRD Off-Road/TRD PRO/Trail/etc. are add-on packages for the SR5/GLX Grade

    Limited is a grade level
Nightshade is an add-on package for the Limited Grade

    And so on.

Toyota used to use a lot more actual factory code "Grades" but as of late seems to group them all together and make sales packages instead.

As far as long and extra long, it is referring to the wheelbase, not the bed length.

    Regular Wheelbase (2005-2015)
    Long Wheelbase (2005-2022)
    Extra Long Wheelbase (2005-2022)

Regular was only used for Regular Cab 6-ft box.
Long is for Access Cab 6-ft box and Double Cab 5-ft box.
Extra long is for Double Cab 6-ft box.

Found it. It was the remote tailgate lock. Thanks!

@FloridaCementTaco were you able to order and install the tailgate lock? I've also got a SR5 4x4 double cab (2020) and am interested in installing the tailgate lock. I'm seeing conflicting things on some of the "check to see if this will fit your vehicle" tools. It seems to me that it would work but would love to know about your experience before I order....
