Removes the factory chambers/baffles used in the OEM unit. These are used in OEM intake to quiet down the under hood noise.

Stock intake already brings in ambient air as checked with multiple gauges, so its not about colder air.

Your not going to notice any gains that are going to overwhelm you into excitement.More noise is all.

Converts hard earned money into a different shaped piece of plastic under your hood.

Depending on the model, it may make you much more vulnerable to hydro-locking depending on where it draws the air from.

Not a super expert but I've seen a few guys on here say they have better results with just a drop in filter. Thats what I'm going to do

I put the K&N intake kit on my 2015 Tacoma. It DEFINITELY makes the induction louder. The engine itself makes more noise (especially when you stomp on it). However, your exhaust pipe makes the same basic noise. K&N claims on their website that their intake adds about 8hp to a Tacoma 4.0L. Assuming that's true it's LESS than 4% gain considering the motor makes 236hp from factory.

    Here's a before/after of the K&N on a Tacoma:

Here's an example of changing a MUFFLER on a Tacoma:
