That’s exactly why I wanted to engage all functions of the 4WD. I went off roading months ago, but just wanted to engage everything to keep all the actuators moving as a maintenance.

If 4low is not engaging at all sounds like u have a bad actuator .

It did work last time I was off roading. Maybe I needed to drive it forward more and turn the wheel. I just tried to engage it on the street. Not drive any further, just engage it.

So is it actually ok to engage 4lo in a parking lot and drive a few hundred feet very slowly in a straight line just to keep the system moving?

Good thinking. Dont be afraid to grind through the noise of Crawl Control either.

When you're in 4hi and in neutral and turn the dial to 4lo, wait like 3 long seconds and make sure the wheels aren't moving at this point. Then shift into drive.

If you shift into drive too quick it won't engage properly and you'll get the beeping alarm

    Here is the correct procedure.

While in drive sitting still not moving put it in 4Hi if the light is blinking it’s still not engaged if that happens shift to reverse foot firmly on brake then back to drive light should stop blinking and you are in 4Hi if not repeat till you are.

Next while in 4Hi foot on brake shift to neutral then to 4Lo and it will usually go right in lights are all solid no blinking no alarm.

    Lastly set rear locker.

Reverse procedure to get back to 2Hi

This always works for me I’m sure someone will correct me if it’s not exactly correct.

Yes, totally fine as long as you don't take tight turns.

I'd try coming to a stop, get it in 4hi, maybe drive a few feet to make sure it's engaged, stop again, put in neutral, select 4lo, and see if it engages. If not, put in gear, and just let it idle and see if it snaps in. Try reverse also, if it's being difficult.

Once it's definitely in 4lo, then stop and try the locker. As mentioned, drive slowly while taking a very gradual turn if it doesn't engage right away.

    Hopefully it's just being finicky!

Yes. In a straight line it's all good.

If you have a MT, clutch has to be fully depressed while in neutral + stopped for 4L to engage.

Took me a minute to sort that one out.

Flashing and beeping always means "not engaged". Solid light means engaged.

You do not want to be in gear trying to drive to get in or out of 4LO. Stay still in neutral and with a manual have the clutch *all* the way to the floor. It's okay, and helpful, to be moving when trying to get a 4HI shift or the diff locked.

Or apply break so vehicle is still for the actuator to engage 4L. I guess it does not really matter what method you use as long as it works. When light stops flashing and the beeping stops then you know you are in 4L
