Driving my Toyota feels like a relief from feeling obligated to wave at other Tacoma’s.......Coming off a Jeep and a Harley I got so sick of the wave, I think maybe they are just saying, I’m OK and not about to break down, you don’t have to turn around. I hope nobody starts the wave with Tacomas. I feel like the Tacoma is such a “norm” for mid-sized trucks that I just blend in and am not really noticed. I do smile when I see the older Tacomas and “Toyota Trucks” on the road and hope mine gets there some day....

For those of you who want to respond but cannot put your thoughts to paper, let me help:

    1. Satisfied. Why?
    • You have a great looking truck
    • It did not cost an arm and a leg
    • Almost everyone in the world likes Tacomas, even the guys who drive other vehicles
    • It has the features you want
    • Easily modded
    • It feels right when you are sitting in the driver's seat.
    2. Content. Why?
    • No worries or anxiety about breaking down
    • This vehicle will go hundreds of thousands of miles
    • Requires minimal maintenance
    • You pretty much only need a 10mm socket to disassemble the whole damn thing
    • That you made the right choice when choosing this truck
    You're welcome.

I am just happy, but I was happy in my Frontier, I was happy in my 1997 F150, my 1993 F150, didn't love my 2005 F150, I loved my 1973 F100, and I loved my 1979 Chevy C10 stepside longed. I just like trucks, sports cars, and motorcycles. I don't worry what other people think about me.
I do think I have the finest midsize truck available today.

My truck makes me feel meh.

I love it, but the third gen drives like absolute dog poop. The engine and transmission just suck in it.

So my truck makes me feel as if there are better options out there and I should go find them.

This reminded me of when watching the news and they show the Taliban and other terrorist groups in God knows where, it seems like 90% of the “military” vehicles are Toyota Tacomas or Land Cruisers. They probably wouldn’t use them and mount 50 Cal machines guns to them if they were not reliable!!

Lol you are exactly wrong but don't take offense.... most people don't know or understand how emotion drives 90% of what we do in every aspect of our lives. I am an engineer so by default I am one of the more logical people out there and it took me years to understand emotion.... and I was also driven by it!
Performing maintenance on something is driven by emotion. How? How do you feel after changing the oil? Satisfied right? Why did you change it yourself? Because you didn't want to get frustrated or mad knowing a high school kid could screw it up and be a painful experience. So, satisfaction, frustration, mad.

Whether you admit it or not emotion drives everything, especially buying a vehicle like a Tacoma.

No offense taken, but I believe the rest of my original post pretty clearly defends my assertion. It is a biased take, of course, and could be a lot less widely applicable than I think.

How do I feel after I change my oil? Some satisfaction that the task is checked off my "to do" list, mild annoyance that I didn't spend that time doing something more enjoyable, happiness that I saved some money. So yes, emotions play a part in some decisions, but I try not to let gratification drive my decisions.

On the flip side, there's my lift. It was supposed to be 3" flat, but came out to 3.8." Despite the potential mechanical issues that can arise from such an excessive lift, I'm really enjoying it and will miss it when I get it rectified. I'm not entirely a robot.

Yeah man, they're tough little trucks. I wish I snapped pictures of the SOF one that got shot up. Dudes were hanging off the back as they putted through the compound gate, like it was no big deal.

Driving a midsize means I can lift my truck without advertising that I’m compensating for a small ding dong :D

I kid. My truck makes me feel like I’m not going to be stranded anywhere. Definitely didn’t buy it for how it rides or drives. It’s a great size for my hobbies and has been bulletproof for 50k miles and I expect many more. Can’t say that about other trucks I’ve owned.

    I agree with you 100%

Where I live there’s a big truck scene everyone wants to have the biggest, tallest baddest truck.
(It’s more of an inferiority complex more than anything). Big dick measuring contest on steroids.

Literally 5 mins after I bought my truck and left the dealership at the first stop light I stopped there was a big truck revving his engine at me wanting to race.
I found it comical, I could care less about showing off.

I think the Tacoma is practical (for my needs), it’s good sized (fits in parking spaces/garage), it can get through off road obstacles better than a full size.
It's just enough. Some might find it boring while others find it simple.
Sure it doesn’t have luxury interior.
Doesn’t have the power to tow a small house.
    Doesn’t have the latest/greatest technology.
Doesn’t have the speed of a hemi.
Doesn't have enough space in the backseat to seat passengers comfortably.

But I don't care about those things, if I did I would've bought a full size.
Unlike the people on here that complain about these things because they don't want to admit they regret not buying a full size for their needs instead.

Emotionally, it feels like that scene from Point Break (1991) where Utah tries to explain how he's feeling to Tyler, the night "stealth mission" scene where she's got goosebumps and he has the surfboard with the black widow on it, which is given to him by Bodhi, which is symbolically important because of the homosocial triangle that places Tyler as the object that Utah and Bodie use to convey their desire for each other.

Or it's the scene from Point Break (1991) where Warchild and Tone and Bunker are driving their Jeep.

Either way, the answer is in Point Break (1991).

I mean it's fine, it's a nice mid size truck and it can haul some stuff while not being too big to be a headache in a parking lot. It's capable offroad and it fits down the trails I need it to go down.

There seems to be a thing with people who drive full size trucks where they constantly try and drive faster than you and take off faster and park super close next to you as if you would be envious of their 7 year old truck that might be worth $10,000 on a good day. Especially people with lifted 2 wheel drive trucks. It's the same people who would try and race me ALMOST EVERY DAMN DAY when I was driving a Mustang GT. Your truck has a V8 but it wouldn't even beat a Camry in a drag race, please stop annoying me. /rant :p
