Fair enough. I think those cleats are rated at something like 400lbs max. (It might only be 200. I honestly can't remember at this point.) How much does a dirt bike weigh? Plus if you hit a bump or make a sharp turn that increases the force applied to the tied-downs..... :notsure: I wouldn't be relying on a plastic part to hold down something I paid a few thousand dollars for, but that's me. :D I've seen too many plastic parts shatter under a simple touch. Let alone a few hundred pounds yanking on it. Not to mention the fact the bed rails flex upward when you put tension on them.

Only thing I use them for now is to loop my dog's leash through so she doesn't jump out.

Yes... plastic (actually composite) bed that will never dent, scratch, and rust away like every other truck bed out there. That's such a bad thing! :p

Thanks Cavilry, at least you understood. I got bashed quite a few times, wow. Hey the original thread starter asked what I didnt like about the Tacoma, and I told you. I love it, people ask you your opinion and then question everything about it. Dont be mad because I think the LED taillights are crap and I happen to have wanted Leather seats instead, that's just the way it is, get over it. I also think after spending 30K plus on a vehicle it is silly to spend hundreds more adding everything you didn't get because it didn't come as an option, but that's me, I ride stock, you ride modified, its all good....

After by what seemed like outrageous gripes to some, I did tell you I would do it again (but of course no one acknowledged that because it was positive and most focus on the negative or what they interpret as negative), hell, I will always find something to whine and bitch about no matter what it is, but I love my Tacoma regardless and there is not another Truck I would've thought twice about getting.

Cavilry, the ones I am mostly talking about are they guys saying they wish they had more options like bluetooth in 2 speakers, navigation, leather heated seats, steering wheel controls that take 1 second instead of 3 seconds.... options they were aware before buying.... your bed issue is an "issue" not "option" I am reffering to the options that people were aware of that are bitching about them. I understand there are plenty of things you can pick out about vehicles after buying but options were well aware of. thats all

In that case...yes, I agree with you. Haha. I really wish I had an iPod hookup, but I bought the truck knowing it did not have it, so that is on me. That is why I will be buying a new radio! :)

My dirtbike (actually a supermoto) weighs about 320 lbs. So yeah...definitely a little heavy. If I had another option, I would take it, but there have been a few times I have had to put it in. It is definitely scarrrrry! haha

haha right on, dude get the USA Spec/or Periferral innerface with the stock setup. I installed it and took 10min and it works great, and you can control your iPod/iPhone from the radio or steering wheel, they are only like $100 U can run both Aux to the headphone jack and also Aux to the charging port, so then you have 2 options also. I leave the headphone Aux in my glove box hidden, and mostly use the Aux in the charging port and have it in my middle console.

sounds to me like nobody actually wants a tacoma....why did you buy it if your just gonna complain and piss and moan about it. ive seen a V8 option as something you all wish it had, yet people cry and moan about the fuel mileage in a 4.0 truck. guess what. wont get much better with a 4.7.

right but do you see where im coming from here? i bought my tacoma because i very much enjoy the way it looks; the fact that its gravity- ongoing, forever. a toyota truck. its unstopable.

Love mine, but wish it had a sturdier tail gate and a less slippery differential. Other than that it has been great. I cant complain about the mud flaps, seeing as I broke them off almost immediately and thought the incident was so stupid I couldn't bear to repeat it (high speed back up off road to avoid sinking).

I actually ordered an IPOD hookup but then I discovered pandora radio on my phone/pda. I ended up installing the IPOD thing in the wife's scion (luckily pretty much all toyotas have the same radio). Only sucky thing is, I could have wired the ipod a little prettier a little easier. Had to do a bit of disassembly to get the wire from the aux jack to the windshield mount without having it draped everywhere.

The phone also has an inclinometer application (4runner inclinometer if you're looking on droid).

I wish it had the nissan bed rail system. The bed rails are so high you almost have to install extra d rings in the bed. But that's kind of a problem on my neighbors ranger too. I also wish the rail cleat system felt more sturdy, and the front bed bulkhead doesn't give me warm fuzzes. Its right in the way of a slipped/unsecured load and the weakest part of the truck. can put a piece of plywood in front of it if you're carrying something pokey.. but still... Not completely sold on the plastic bed. Never had a problem with metal, since the advent of herculiner anyway.

I like everything about it...'cept the rear window on a access cab or dbl cab should be electric!!
"no manual trans option in the double cab" I have a manual double cab!!
