Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I don't like that only the driver's side window is the only automatic one in the truck. Why isn't the passenger window the same? Either way, having power windows is so nice! Until the Tacoma, my newest car was a 1980, so no power windows for me. Other things I don't like are the weak factory leafs that squeak, but I TSBd those and have had zero problems since. Also the crap they call "tires" that came with the truck, only had those for about 6 months before some new Wranglers replaced them. And lastly, the factory shift knob on my 5 speed, the stitching started coming apart last winter and the stealership wanted close to $100 to replace it, so I went to sickspeed.com and ordered one of their custom knobs for $20 and couldn't be happier, it is made out of cue ball material and is heavier so it shifts a lot smoother.

Loving my '12, a lot of minor improvements over the '05 and '07 I have driven including many of the dislikes from this thread

I dislike the lack of interior lighting. I've added a bunch of LEDs to the glovebox/coin tray/center console/ cup holders/footwells for the cost of around $20. Toyota should do this, and illuminate the 4x4 switch and ignition ring. These are things that would not inflate the price tag and add value.... Also an led strip cargo light should be standard, don't make us do it ourselves

I dislike the rubber cupholder inserts, out of all the gd cupholders none of them fit a wide bottle like a big Gatorade, not sure why they changed as the older 2nd gens were fine

Stock tires blow, but they know we will upgrade anyways

I really don't care about or want the luxury features that a lot of people are screaming for. Go buy a Lincoln blackwood. Or add all that crap on an American full-size and watch it fall apart. I don't want to pay for power everything and sunroofs, and if you do then you can add them aftermarket

Center console needs to open front to back not side to side, passenger has to climb over the lid to find stuff for me while I'm driving.

    No Sunroof Option
Power windows should be one touch up and down
    No rear disc brake option
Tailgate is too easy to steal
    Stock stereo sounds terrible
The distance on the remote for the door locks has too short of a range

Right - my '10 doesn't have an adjustible height mirror.

Thanks for the tip, but the fact that there is enough aftermarket support to justify this part just proves that Toyota should have designed it right in '05, and then failed to get it right for at least 5 years after that.

    I have 06 Prerunner 4cyc 5 speed.
    My big dislikes are:

The way the gears shift, they kind of stick when changing gears, or you cant get the stick into gear for whatever reason. I also dont like that when i shift into third, it feels like the truck looses power or has a delay before the gear actually kicks in. Feels kind of like the truck is releasing pressure or something in order for it to go.

Dont like that they did not beef up the leafs in the back or updated to the TSB for that, but overall it would have been nice if they would have beefed up the whole trucks suspension as a whole.

I hate the clutch altogether, even down to the tranny. I mean really??? They made the whole pedal assembly out of plastic. (this is more of a nitpick item, but still...)

The unidentified engine rattle that I have on morning starts, regardless of weather temp it seems.

My biggest issue, and what I hate the most about the truck is the engine. (I should have gone with the 6 cycl, but I impusle bought the truck, cause I have been wanting one for a long time... I am a dumb ass in this point, and am will to accept, and admit that). The little whimpy 4 cycl that they put in the truck is just irritating. There is only enough power in that damn thing to haul a crotch rocket at the most in the bed. I cant haul anything that would be heavier than a 600 cc crotch rocket. If I do the bed bottoms out, and or the engine feels like it is being over pushed. Now if you couple that with turning on the A/C then most if not all of your acceleration goes bye, bye. Not only that but, the HP that whimpy thing puts out is gone too.... So, yeah a better 4 cycl would have been better, not this weak peace of crap.

I tried to pull a tree out of a pond one day, and the truck would not do it. The tree was not that big at all, and was I thought small enough for the truck to pull out. Nope not at all. Trust me when I say it was not user error, i have driven stick shifts plent of time, and have pulled, hauled, ect many things with no complaint or issue. Hell me, and my buddy where able to pull it out by hand with no issue.... WTF is up with that??

Hell my wifes 4 door Kia Spectra has more power and nuts engine wise, than my truck. Her's is a 4 cycl automatic, and the oil it uses is 0W-30. Which is really light, and it tells me that her engine is not a beefy as mine, but still out performs my truck in acceleration, and power all around. How upsetting for Toyota, but good for Kia... at any rate... Those are my dislikes. Other than whats listed above, I like the truck. The size, highth, and interior all good for me.

    Thanks.

Granted, I haven't owned one since my '86 4Runner, but I told myself a long time ago I would never buy another Toyota truck in 4 cylinder. I loved the vehicle in general, but the engine was complete crap in my opinion. Granted, the 80's 4Runner was a heavier vehicle than the Hilux it was built around, but that engine was just way too weak. Taking trips though West Virginia in the mountains, I'd have to cut the a/c just to have enough acceleration power to climb hills in the summertime. I'm sure the current 4 cylinder has been improved some, but I much prefer driving the V6.

I've towed 2580lbs around with mine and had no complaint. Granted it wasn't a rocket, but it got the job done. Towed all the way from Montana to Nevada and back, a 2005 Harley Davidson Springer Softail, and a 2010 Kawasaki KLR650 dual sport in the trailer, plus all the gear and other supplies we had the truck loaded down with.

I hate to say this, but they have not made any updates or changes to it that I can tell. Then again, I have not had a truck that old before. But considering that you just said you had to turn off the A/C just to get enough power to climb a hill. Tells me that they have not done anything to the 4 cycl to increase the power, because I have to do the samething in order to climb a hill, or down shift 4th or 3rd to get enough acceleration to get on the hwy. So, yeah they have not done crap with it from what I can tell.

I am thinking that were ever you got your truck from built the engine right, or you got lucky. Cause mine would just die on me if I put that kind of load on it. It would probably blow an engine seal, and a tranny seal with no problem. I blew the water pump a couple of weeks after I bought it, it was replaced under warrenty (thank god). It did not take much to do, cause I had no idea I did it. Until I brought it up the dealership complaining of this unidentified rattling noise (still pending at this time still). That is when they found the dead water pump.

    Thanks.

Headrests. They tilt forward and touch the back of my head. Makes it hard to drink and drive. My work around solution was to turn the headrest around backwards.

My biggest gripe right now is two things.

Box-Movement off road. Its A LOT of movement.

Windnoise, with the windows down its full blast in your face. I feel if the AC quater windows popped or rolled down this problem would be eliminated. My 4runner has only a gental breeze move thru the cabin at 65mph with all the windows down.
