Perhaps my opinion on this "how much power does a Tacoma have" question is at least partially based on how weak my last prior Toyota motor was (22R, 120 hp 2-valve) but even though I whine incessantly about build quality issues with my 2005 2.7 4-cyl, I really have no complaints with it's ability to pull and do what I want of it. I would not try a 2-axle trailer behind any 4-cyl, but I have an 18.5 ft Glastron 6-cyl in/out bow rider single-axle that works the 2.7 a bit when I pull it, but it gets the job done. It easily pulls a single-axle enclosed trailer with 2 dirttrack bikes, plus fuel, popup, tools etc. It even more easily pulls a 3-bike open trailer with 2 TT500 Yamahas and one other 225 lb bike. A buddy at work has the same truck (extended cab, 2.7 motor, auto tranny) except it's a 2009 and it feels exactly like mine around town, but I've never pulled anything behind it. I'd have to say that KaosTros's experience is different from anything I've heard. That doesn't help KaosTros, though!

Squeaky fan motor, the front drivers door does not close as easily as the passenger door, the bed is not centered on the frame, no dual sun visor, rough running and unrefined v6, poor fuel economy, no transmission oil dipstick, and no front tie down points in the bed like the rear has. There are many things I like about my 2011 Tacoma SR 5 V6 Access Cab but I would not buy another Tacoma again.

The biggest issue I have is the problem that appears in the last (2) 2010 and (1) 2011 I've owned. The shudder/Vibration when slowing issue. I have had the dealer, Toyota Coorporate Techs and upper management involved with solving this issue on my 2010s with no solution. They did identify it as torque converter disengagement problems when deaccelerating but said the magic words to me " operates as designed" with no other solutions. They actually bought both my 2010s back with Toyota cash assistance and I applied it to the 2011 I own now. The 2011 Tacoma is better but still viberates when cold on occasion, I have just learned to live it with it! I still think it is a great value for what it is and can't beat the mileage.

Add to my other list, bottom painted door jams. The yobviously need some sort of cover and get scratched and dented waaay too easily. Just from traffic the paint is worn off from foot wear of sliding in and out of the front seats on both sides of the truck. In the passenger side there all kinds of tiny dents and scuff marks where anything set down on the jam leaves a mark. Seriously ridiculous and it is most definitely a lower quality paint than the gen 1. Put over 170k miles on my gen 1 and the bottom jams look better than my 3 yr old gen 2. And, in all actuality the nicks and dings don't bother me themselves, it's just why all the paint is worn off AND why it's so easily dented that is annoying...

Well....it would be nice to have a little more room for storage. I also had to replace my throw out bearing within a year of purchase. I bought Dusty brand new in 2009. But ultimately.....he rocks! I wouldn't trade him for the world. He's been damn good to me and I have just over 50K on him and still running like a champ.

    To Echo others....

Totally awful mileage for a midsize
Terrible power for the aforementioned lack of mileage
Weak factory rear leaf springs for the rough ride

    Too few factory options like:
    No Sunroof
No Keyless ignition (Hey Toyota, seen a 4Runner lately?)
    No Cooled Seats
    No Heated Mirrors
No automatic up and down on all windows
No up or down on driver's seat
    No electronic seat controls

I'd like it if we could have the fob embedded in the damn key. I hate having the other part dangling around. My Lexus IS300 had a key/fob combo and it was perfect. I know other Toyota vehicles have it so just swap it over :)

I loved this key set up. I had it for my 2010 Golf and I thought that it was a great design. A couple of weeks ago I had bent my truck key(I don't know how) and I wished I had the VW set up. You think that Toyota would have done the one key with the fob together, wouldn't it be cheaper?

For my 2012, I think the stock stereo is weak. Seems like you have to crank it to hear anything. Decent sound I think, just no volume. My 2000 4Runner has a CD/cassette player and it was awesomely loud. Also, no cargo light on the third brake light. It seems so wierd to not have that. My brother's Titan has the cargo lights and even some in the tailights that shine in the bed. If Nissan can do that, surely Toyota can.
So far those are my only peeves.
