I would have preferred a real transfer case.

    Drums brakes are underrated.

    -return to full box frame
-fenders that actually have clearance for larger tires with minimal lift (ie round would be nice again)
-interior quality is crap compared to older toyota pickups. Poor fit and finish and cheap plastic all around.
-poorly executed manual tranny in order to to kill sales as an excuse to axe the option (IMO).
    -engine hasn't been upgraded yet
    -no manual t-case
    -no solid axle

Just a few of the things that are needed to make the Taco useful off of the pavement.

Stupid functions like 'Clutch Start Cancel' and 'Traction Control Off' with no explanation of when or how you're supposed to use them, just a warning in the manual to never use them.

No alarm on a TRD offroad, at least mine didn't come with it.
TRD offroad should have a functional scoop IMO.
Solid axles with front and rear lockers as an option.
The roof of the truck sounds like hail when it rains.
    Weak tailgate

Oh yeah and overpriced! But that is Supply and Demand for ya.

The rear brakes should be disc, i had a tundra and the automatic door locking was a nice feature. Id like to see that on the tacoma its a good safety feature for women who drive
    especially at night.

I don't like the fact that the tilt steering isn't spring loaded to default in the up position. I sometimes forget to lock it in position and then I'll be driving and the steering column will move up on me. Pretty annoying.

pwr seats or at the minimum on the driver's side. (not a lazy a$$ by any stretch but it gives you so many more options to be comfortable)

more up/down range on the "adjustable" steering column.

    heated mirrors

    auto sensing headlights

TRD off road with the double cab/long bed option.

    ditch the red/orange instrument colors.

All of the above are nit-picky things, I really like my trk.

Love my Taco, but I really wish for the premium money I paid for my truck it would have had...
-Locking gas hatch (my fucking 1992 Camry had one!)
    -Cargo lights
    -Locking tailgate
-Light in the glove box (again with my old Camry!)
    -HOOD STRUTS!
    -Heated side mirrors
-Better sheet metal (flimsiest shit ever)
-Better paint (the shit scratches just looking at it)
    -Better speakers
-Power one touch up function on the drivers window (my wifes Sienna has it!)
    -Rear disc brakes

Now I know, a lot of this stuff can be added by aftermarket mods and stuff, but c'mon, for the dough we're forking over for these trucks some of this stuff is already in other Toyotas! Can I get an amen? Are you listening R & D guys?

One other thing... Seems to me the rearview mirror is so damn low on the windshield.
