I get 19-20 mpg tank after tank. My commute has few stops and I cruise at about 55-60 mph.

So you are about my same size - I tip the scales a little heavier at 220, but what I'm talking about is the bolster on the seat bottom side - if you drag your arse across that outer bolster and sit on it getting in, it gets smashed down and will end up looking like the bolster in my father-in-laws truck I mentioned - torn fabric and flattened side foam. just trying to keep the truck nice. I don't drive it all that often, so maybe it's a learning curve I haven't obtained yet.

I believe the thread topic was "what you don't like about the Tacoma" - correct? I've had very few vehicles that there wasn't something I didn't like about them. I didn't say i had issues getting in and out - I said it is awkward, but as I said - maybe it's a learning curve I haven't mastered yet. I can easily get in and out of the truck if I don't concern myself with smashing the side bolster on the seat bottom.

Clunky drivetrain on the manual. It’s kinda of embarrassing driving past people lol .

Bit under powered. For a v6 I expected little bit more .

Clutch pedal needing lubing otherwise it makes noise .

Driver side spark plug change lol

rear speakers non existent.. they are physically their but don’t exist with sound .

Ass or asshole - you be the judge..

If you want to make a comment like "you're doing it all wrong - here's how to easily get in/out without destroying the bottom bolster over time" and proceed to give me advice, that's fine. If you want to berate me for answering the topic, keep that shit to yourself. This forum is for advice, how to's, and entertainment - not to try to prove yo are better/smarter than someone else.

I normally climb in ass-first out of habit and laziness. But if you want to preserve the bolster, you should enter the truck head first. There is plenty of room to do so. Plant your left foot on the rail/step/as close as possible to the sill. Duck in head first while bringing the right leg in (behind the left leg, under the wheel, and around the seat in one fluid motion). The right knee should go to its proper position as one pivots and sits. Then bring the left in. Lift your ass as you make fine adjustments to the driving position.

In all of my cars its opposite. Ass first, head second, right leg third, left leg fourth. In the truck you should go head first. The seats are too tall for a proper ass entry.

No, No, No. You're doing it all wrong.
Be it car or truck, the left leg always goes in first.

I think that's close to what I'm doing, but I'm going to think about it next time I get in and see if I can make it more smooth. I've always had cars, and like you said - it's ass first, so this head first thing feels awkward. I feel like I look like I probably do when I bowl - I look like I don't know what I'm doing!

You are going to have to provide a video of that. I've never seen anyone enter any vehicle with the outside leg.

I take that back. I have seen someone enter with the left leg, but they got in trouble for committing a sexual act in public shortly afterwards.

You're overcomplicating it. I'm with him, and do the exact same thing. Thinking about it logically, it doesn't make a lot of sense. But in reality, when you open the passenger door, you just step in with your left foot first. All thats left is to climb over the center console and get to the drivers side :notsure:

The issue with gas mileage claims are people don't know how to differentiate between tank averages and trip averages. They also don't calculate gallons used/miles driven vs what a screen tells them.

Its entirely plausible for someone to tank average close to 25mpg in a stock truck and preferable commute conditions. Its entirely plausible for the screen to show the truck is averaging 28-30mpg at any given time during a drive. Its entirely plausible that someone might have a trip average of 28mpg. Its NOT plausible that someone is getting a tank average (which is what most logical people are referencing when discussing gas mileage) of 28-30mpg.
