I am trying to figure out what I need to do to lift my 03 extra cab taco. I have been looking at the toytec Aluma series boss suspension system to lift my truck 2-3”. Is there any other lifting options better then this with the same hight in this price range that would suit my needs, a little bit higher or lower priced? I am still in high school but am an avid hunter and fisherman and run up and down dirt roads, I also am getting into more advanced off-roading. And other then the actual lift kit what do I need for 2-3” of lift such as extended break lines, bump stops, ect. Thank you

I have only had dreams of ever being able to do that to my truck.

10 different people will tell you 10 different options. Kings, Fox, ADS will be the top of the line pick. OME and Bilstein will be mid grade.

I'm a fan of "buy once, cry once"

Consider future weight such as plated bumpers, winch etc and put that into account too when buying CO and leaf/shock.

Lift typically associate with taller tires. Now, you need to consider gear ratio and more power.

Yeah ads fox and kings are definitely out of my budget for a full lift kit and all the other little stuff i need for everything els.
Ya I have heard that the bilstein 5100 or 5160s are good for the rear 2.5” lift and the 5100 coils are good for the 2.5” lift too
But I haven’t seen much of anything on the ome kits.
And I have heard a little bit about the toytec kits.
I would also be up for just buying everything separately idk if that is more expensive though.
But I’m really up for anything that will get me 2-3” higher under 2k preferably but still worth buying. I k ow that’s pretty much what everyone want’s though.

Major savings is right around the corner. What I would do is hold onto your pennies and wait for the Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Xmas, end or new year sale.

$2k is a pretty healthy budget. Up front, besides the coilovers you don't "need" anything. Upper control arms might be something to consider though. In the rear, along with your suspension components, a BPV relocation and an extended brake line should do it.

Instead of a "lift kit" would a mid travel setup be more what you're looking after for your offroading needs?

Is the Toytec kit with spacers? If so, I’d pass, don’t bother with spacers

A good budget option for you would be to do Bilsteins and an add a leaf or new leaf pack if you want. Bilsteins ride great on the street and do well off road as well. You won’t be speeding like you would with Fox King etc, but you’ll be happy

Yeah j started looking into toy tech and I heard some not great things about them from someone who had them leaking and kept leaking after they fixed them and didn’t get the best customer service.
But the Bilstein 5100s seem to have a great reputation and I was thinking to pair them with some ome 2881 springs a progressive 3leaf and an aal. And would I need a break propositioning valve lifted bracket
I was also wondering if I’m going to need a diff drop for 2.5 inches of lift and if so will I still be able to use my factory skid plates.
I’m sorry for all the questions I know it’s asking a lot. I just don’t want to get something wrong.

For the bilsteins you would be okay without a diff drop. One thing you may want to consider is getting different UCAs, upper control arms. Most people will also upgrade their I’ll control arms when they lift their Tacoma, but you could get away without it

I would change all 3. I'm pretty sure they're 20y/o. Go SS braided.

I apologize for jumping in on your thread, but I have a lot of the same questions that are being answered here. I'm just wondering why replace the UCA's? and what is a good upgrade for these? Thanks.

ARB Bumper, SOS sliders, SOS rear bumper, SOS skid plate. OME Lift. Some other stuff.
OME is what you seek. 2K should kit you pretty close to the complete OME kit with Dakars and UCAs. No bump stops or extended brake lines should be needed with an OME setup

The hard question. Are you getting stuck where you want to go now?

    If yes, why?

Tires? Driver skill? Hanging up the frame?

The axle lines don't move up with suspension lift. Lift has much less to do with fitting larger tires than wheel selection.

Just some things to consider before you start laying down your $
