New front wheel hubs & bearings, new Spicer carrier bearing, Three new Spicer Life U-joints, Wheels, and tires just balanced. All this took 95% of the shake out of my 2012 Tacoma Pre runner. But I still get a very noticeable and predictable shake from 72mph to like 77mph. Any ideas? I run at these speeds quite often.

I am considering a driveshaft balance or replacement if deemed necessary. But frankly would rather put that money somewhere else if I can.

Would they not spot a tire balance problem at the shop where they were just balanced? Sincere question, hopping to learn something here.

I know they torqued them to a spec. But not sure if it was 85lbs.

A tire can balance but still shake at higher speeds.

Other things like slightly worn ball joints/tie rods can cause a shake as well.

Honestly with trucks a slight shimmy is difficult to chase and you're best off rotating the tires and hoping tread wear fixes it.

How many miles on tires? Sometimes the tread separates from the main part of the tire or is out of round/ bubbled

I'm quite sure that the ball joints are worn 200,100 miles on. It doesn't bother me that much, but I still would rather not have it if I had the choice. It was shaking to high heaven when I started on it as a project a couple of weeks back. Pretty smooth now.

    Do you have aftermarket wheels?

What are of the truck is the shake emanating from?

Yes, the wheels are aftermarket, the original owner put them on. They are 17" and look quite nice but I can't speak to quality or investment. And the shake feels like it is in the front.

I can't tell you what it may be 100% without having hands on it.

But I would check driveline balance, or possible wheel bearing issue that only gets noticed at speed. Hard to know without seeing it 1st hand.

Sounds dumb but check your inner fenders too. Only bring that up because we had an issue with a truck that ended up being a simple inner fender that came loose and only caused issues when the truck was at hwy speeds and flapping around.

He was happy to have it solved by two factory clips.

Aftermarket wheels. I would check to see if they are Hub Centric or Lug Centric. If lug centric that does at times cause problems such as this.

Measure the hub bore diameter it should be 106.1 mm. If it is larger than that more than likely it is your problem. You can get hub adapter rings to properly space the oversized bore to your hub.

    Just some stuff...
What kind/brand tires are you running? I had a set of Mickey Thompson Baja ATZs that I had to have road force balanced. Kinda spendy, but definitely worked!
