    Hey everyone
Just wondering what other vehicles you teat drove in comparassion to the taco and didn't buy and why? I knew I wanted a taco, drove it and bought it without checking anything else out. Happy w my decision. Just curious as to others feelings on competitors.

I was in an auto-trans diesel GC limited before the taco. I would have taken anything that wasn’t an FCA vehicle. But i spent the most time on a subaru lot thrashing all of their manual transmission offerings before finding my taco.

Been test driving a Colorado for about three years, decided to go back to Toyota. No reliability, comfort, or ease of maintenance. Transmission, rust, and seat issues all within warranty period. Cheerfully repaired and great customer service, but I can’t justify the potential for any more issues after the warranty is up.

Colorado and Canyon, then laughed my way out of there bc they wanted a lot more for those trucks than the taco. And they wouldn’t budge on the price at all.

I was eyeballing the Frontier. I could live with the dated interior, however I never found Nissans very fun to work on. It's like everything in the engine bay is an afterthought in terms of how to service. I do think it has an engine that's better than anything Toyota has offered in the 2nd and 3rd gen

I have a loose general rule where I don’t buy a vehicle I’ve already had. And i use to have a 2012 taco. I was looking at 4Runner off road and a wrangler unlimited rubicon, neither just spoke to me. While getting out of the 4Runner I looked over and on display was the quicksand taco. I said can you grab keys to that? And the rest is history.

4runner and Frontier for me. The Frontier was runner up to the Taco. I liked the simplicity of the truck, and you get a lot for your money. It had a nice solid feel to it, and the powertrain was great.

The 4runner is nice, but outdated for the price, and finance rates are terrible compared to the Taco. Didn't care for the automatic in it either... way worse than the Taco's.

This was my experience as well. I really liked the motor in the Canyon, but I could not get over the interior, or the price tag. No way was I paying more for a GMC than a Toyota. I even used the Costco program at the GMC dealer.

The full-size trucks ended up being cheaper, it was insane. They were discounting them 8-10 grand. They all ended up being around 38, while the canyons and colorados were still 40ish At the time I didn't want a full size. Just thought that was crazy

This is exactly the reason the Ranger is so scarce.

Drove a Colorado. It was nice, but couldn't really get the color/combo/wheels I wanted...plus I really like the reliability of the Tacoma...and the Cement color really did it for me.

I had the opposite. The on the spot sale price for my Colorado was so low and the trade in price for my 4Runner was so high I couldn’t pass the deal up, especially since I was specifically looking for the pickup utility. The problems that developed over time don’t represent a quality product at all, and caused a loss of faith in GM (I’ll never get back my ‘02 trailblazer that didn’t have a single problem in my 11 years or the 5 years a friend had it until it’s untimely demise).

Nothing. I went straight from my old car to the taco! Emailed all the dealers in my area for the lowest price...then went to that dealer, test drove it and took it home.

I did the same thing for my first taco.. then, for my second taco I went and test drove both the Colorado and the Ranger.. I was not impressed with either. Neither of them look as tough or agressive as the taco, and neither offered more technology, which was my biggest problem with my 1st taco (solved by the 2020 model!). I also didn’t think the build quality was any better for the Chevy or the Ford, so overall I still felt the taco was the best option, especially given all the other advantages of the taco (reliability)..

Trailblazers were great somehow. I had an 03 for 4 years before the Taco. No real issues at all. Paid $4,300 for it with 127k and traded it for $2,750 with 178k. I had a valve cover leak that took out a coil pack. I changed it in the parking lot at my work and still had a misfire. It was about 8 degrees outside so I gave up and took it to a shop. Apparently I was sold a bad coil pack out of the box and a second one also died. Decided I didn't want to do the valve cover gasket and dumped it about a year earlier than planned on the Taco.

A 4Runner. Was debating if I needed the bed or the enclosed back. Got the Taco with the tonneau.
