Based on the photos and mileage, what other work can/should be done while the front wheels are off and lower ball joints are being replaced. I'm old and lazy. I'd really don't want to have to jack it back up in a couple of years to address and issue. There's 272,500 miles on the' 97 SR5 (engine has 82,000 less). I've had it since 2018 and put just 1,000 mile/year but plan to put many more miles on it soon.

    I've ordered lower ball joints.

    Plan to order the following:
    brake pads
    outer tie rods
    sway bar bushings
    struts

    Should the following be done:
    wheel bearing replacement
    rotors (they seem fine)

I don't know the name of the bushing in photo 3 below but looks like it needs to be replaced.

Pic #3 is the upper ball joint, at the end of the wishbone on the UCA are two more bushings, upper control arm bushings.

You will never be able to get a good alignment if you don't swap out the LCA bushings, uppers if you have time (though uppers are not as critical.) Being old and lazy like me, you might want to just get the whole OEM LCA's (McGeorge/Ourisman Toyota of Virginia,) they come with bushings installed. Pressing out old bushings and putting new ones in would cost me at least an extra 6 hours. The other advantage is you don't have to waste time taking out the old ball joints.

These trucks don't have struts, they are coilovers. I did my refresh a year or so ago. Also to save more headaches, try suspensionlifts.com, they have a 4 corner Bilstein shock set with assembled Moog coilovers, as close to stock as you can get and best price I found (details in that link.)

The entire front end will be in the air, make sure you have at least 2 good jackstands. Cinder blocks, wood blocks or logs (I've seen it) will kill you.

Make sure you have a half inch drive impact wrench and BAH on hand, you'll need them. Two cans of PB blaster might be enough, a small torch will be helpful. The worst of it is getting things apart without breaking tools.

If you're going this far, put in a set of ES poly steering rack bushings, black is more stiff than red, I used red. I did a new rack when I did mine, it was pulling to the right (P/N also in that link by another poster.)

As for your discs and bearings, don't fix it if it ain't broke, both of those are smaller jobs compared to the front end. I'd save it for later, you will have your hands full.

+1 on the bushings.....they are a PIA to do.....
but man that's how you get that new truck ride....

all those bushings are inter-dependent....a worn one causes all the others to wear out

Thanks for all the suggestions brother. 10-4 on the jack stands and safety. I'm very conservative when it comes to safety.
One question; I plan to remove the 3-inch body lift. Will the same size coilovers fit with and without the body lift.

Re-reviewed your pics - you need new OEM sway bar links too, unless you plan on taking out the sway bar. Those links are shot. Also there's not a lot of room to get behind them to hold the stud while removing/torquing, get a good set of long vice grips (pic below.)

The coils are largely responsible for the lift. If you have a lift now and want stock, they won't work, the lift will stay. If you want to restore to stock, get this set, same ones I'm running on my '03, and the price has gone down!
