I was going to say a Glock. :) If it's an interstate trip to the wife's fam, a carbine goes with me too.

A 9mm is for pussies....won't get you far. If it has to be a Glock, make it a .45. Or better, carry a Mossberg 500 (or similar) 12 gauge. I always carry one in mine.

 Maybe if you hold it sideways and a foot above your head when you fire. I haven't yet met anyone who is willing to stand in front of me and let me shoot them with one of the 9mm 124 gr +P hollowpoints I carry.

Of course not. No offense meant, buddy, just my personal preference and opinion. Wouldn't risk shooting anybody with a 9mm, based on my personal experience. With a .45, I know a center of mass hit will put them certainly and permanently down. Even more so when it comes to the 9-12 00 buck pellets per shot from my Mossy 500.

Handy for the nut on a 1" shank trailer ball, but not much else on a Taco...on the other hand, it will fit the lug nuts on my Power Wagon

Disregarding the sentence I quoted in my previous post, I can't argue your logic.

Why don't you put a M2 (Ma Duece) .50 cal in the bed on a sweep pivot (with the rail to avoid hitting the hood) and a dedicated gunner?

    firearms are for the range...

Tire pressure gauge has been handy a few times when the TPMS lights up.

if you need a gun and you are in ur truck, good luck with the mossberg. a 9mm is usually smaller than a .45, at least mine is anyway.

Your list seems fine, bear in mind that the list will change based on where you're headed. Basic necessities for daily trips, more for when you hit the trails.

As for weapons, keep in mind the source of the advice. Everyone has their own preferences, none are really better than the others. A guy with a 45 that can't hit the side of a barn will always lose to a guy with a smaller caliber (9MM, .380, even a .22). Experience based on hearsay and articles don't carry much weight. Also be aware of local laws, carrying a weapon in violation of local laws can get you in serious trouble.

Point is, take advice as just that, make your own decisions and stand by them.

I dont need the ice scraper, I live in TX. But I have one I will throw in for winter, when we expect freezing rain. A good plan for areas that do get a real winter.:D

Also to the above - I do have an air pressure gauge, hand cleaner (several types in the first aid kit), and its the womans responsibility to keep feminine products stocked as needed.
Rope is a great idea, I will probably pick up some para cord.

I appreciate your comments, and find them more in line with my personal beliefs.

As to the guns - A bit irresponsible to recommend to anyone that you dont know, or have any ideas as to their local laws or personal beliefs on guns/gun ownership/carrying.

While it is a great idea for some, it is not for everyone.

A full size shotty is not a good idea, IMO, but good for you. The real issue with a carry bullet is ballistics, proficiency with your chosen weapon, and shot placement. There are several large discrepancies with bullets, even "self defense" bullets, in varying calibers - some .45's with less energy delivered, less penetration, and worse ballistics than many smaller rounds, including 9mm. Choose a gun you like, are comfortable and accurate with, and pick the round that best suits your needs.

A gun is personal and situationally dependent, or at least it should be.

Beyond that, while I appreciate the suggestion, lets simply leave it at "a weapon of your choosing" as a suggestion, and let each individual figure out their own local laws and their personal needs.
