Replacing those gaskets aren’t invasive enough to really change much other than themselves. Spark plugs and wires if needed maybe.

Ok so I’m Tessa taping the passenger side harness, I’m doing basically a double wrap on the “main” harness, do y’all think that’s too much or not enough?

Also, I’ve measured 2 exh valves so far that measure a “light” .014/ stiff .015.
With the spec for exhaust being .011- .014, would you guys leave these alone or run 1 shim thicker?
I like being on the looser side of spec anyways, what do y’all think?

Double is enough, I had the same problem and wish I wrapped the drivers side 1st before moving it and it all fell apart.
So I wrapped up both sides and the passenger side before moving it
And wrapped the fuel injector wires too with the same tape

Fantastic looking engine bay! Had I used my brain I would have installed loom and then wrapped them like you and I’m sure everybody else Ha. But me being in Lala I wrapped the bear wiring. I’ll just throw a new loom over it. Three-quarter inch loom right?

I don’t remember exactly but 3/4 sounds right.
I used that for the driver’s side and then wrapped with the tesa tape.
Passengers side was cracked but was able to wrap the original cover,
Then got those wire loom hold downs straps and bolts from Napa.
The one under the throttle body I had to hammer down because it hits the bottom of the throttle body

Thanks!! I’ll be doing the same! Do you have any opinion on the valves being at the top limit of spec?

All valve clearances on passenger side head are within specs except 1, its the front cylinder intake and measured a light .005” or tight .006”.
I pulled the shim and it measured .115” which transfers to 2.92mm.
Seeing as shims come in 2.85, 2.90, 2.95 increments, it looks like a 2.85mm will put me right at a light .008” or tight .009”.
I’ll hopefully be getting all driver side clearances tomorrow

If it's not too late, I would use a micrometer to measure those shims.

You’re absolutely right, I’m sure the shim is worn a thou or so closer to the center. Hopefully I can acquire my micrometer today to see, great idea!

Got my micrometer on that shim, fortunately it measured dead nuts .115 in all “center spots”. Interestingly, there was one spot on the very edge that ran .118”, but everywhere else was .115”.
I’m impressed with the overall quality of parts in this valve train, out of all 24 valves only that one was in need of adjusting.
