You can’t beat the Kirkland full synthetic 5qt 5W-30 jug prices - a solid full synthetic oil. That’s what I use.

    And $4 OEM YYZ filters.

Not sure where these guys are getting $50 oil filters from lol. I got an OEM Toyota Filter from Amazon for $8. Will be using Castrol Edge Full Synthetic for my Oil Change this weekend.

12 Prerunner 63k on the odo. Mobile1 full synthetic 5-30, oem filter, 1 year interval or about 6000, 7500 miles max. Been using synthetic for about 10k miles. Change every April, when the weather is good. Essentially same engine as '12 4runner 4 Liter which is a 1 year interval 10k mi. engine. Been back and forth on the 1 year issue, but the oil should be fine, esp since there's an engine oil cooler. Only light towing/hauling.

Been running Mobile1 5w-30 full synthetic since day one with TOYOTA filters and not a single issue. But I only have about 66k miles on my 2014...I did recently move to high mileage mobile1 synthetic for our Chevy equinox with over 100k miles and it seems to like it as far as I can tell.

    ^this.

Mobil full synthetic, OEM filter, or sometimes I use WIX.

3k is nonsense. Unless you're putting like supertech and using a fram filter, anything is just fine for 5k these days.

I don't even do 5k. I'll run for 10-12k. Good oil, is totally fine to run that long, just have to have a proper filter. I've done this to every vehicle for the last decade and have never had issues. All of this is anecdotal, and to add more I've spent more years than I would like to admit sitting in the pit changing peoples oil. Becomes easy enough to tell if they are neglecting doing changes or are on top of it. 12k on OEM/WIX with Mobil full synthetic comes out "normal dirty", hardly excessive. The oil can go even more, my TDI the factory interval is 15k, and that still comes out as "normal dirty".

Another fabulous oil thread. I always learn so much from these - NOT. They are always the same. They are all I use, I use, I use, I use............. You should use a certain oil because I use this oil. Why would anyone choose an oil because it’s what some complete stranger uses. Oh well, I guess these oil threads gives people something to do.

Well, all that really matters is that it's ILSAC GF-5. Pretty much any brand anyone has mentioned I think is. Mobil or Castrol, yeah doesn't matter. Filters would be the only thing, but same thing, yup wix, oem, stupid K&N are fine if you want to spend more money for no reason.

    Edit:
This probably matters more, https://www.oilspecifications.org/ilsac.php and I run e85 all day.

I just bought a 2012 v6 and am starting to look into the same thing. I like to know why I am using certain products and not just "because someone else said they use it" I watched a couple videos and this one seemed to help me understand a little more about it. I think what's going to matter most is that it meets your ILSAC Oil specifications. Links below.
