I'm strongly considering joining the Baja team next year. It looks like a blast. Plus Oregon State has pretty decent team :D

Oregon state has a freaking awesome team, great group of guys too (at Least they were 2 years ago when I did it). It takes a lot of time and dedication but stick it out, it's worth it.

I graduated from UNT in Denton, TX last May with a BSMET (I dont think its official but they called my program the Mechanical engineering Technology, with more emphasis in the shop with machining/CNC..etc)

I am now work for an aerospace composite company that makes composite (mostly carbon fiber, sometimes fiberglass/kevlar) tools to make aerospace parts (e.g. turbine blades, and other expensive stuff like that).

I was on the UNT Formula SAE team for '13-14, heres our car

Spent my first two years at NM Tech. I was majoring in Petroleum Engineering, but in 1986 that looked like a really bad idea. At the time, Tech didn't have a ME program and I had to switch to State.

I bet I'm the only guy on here that graduated HS from Hatch, NM.

We had a good 10-15 in the fall semester with lots of interest, but when it came to actually building the car and having to pretty much spend all your time working on it with late nights and weekends, by mid-spring we were down to 6-7. There was only 6 of us that went to Lincoln, Nebraska for competition that occured after graduation, so most went off to full time jobs.

UNT is good friends with UTA's FSAE team and they usually have around 30 or so every year.

Damn, my school only allows us to have teams of four students and we have to do our own funding as well.

Well for our senior year we have to do "senior design" and do a project that has to do with designing and manufacturing an engineering project. We can only have teams of 4, so we had 3 teams that specialized in different parts of the car: suspension, chassis/ergonomics, electrical/powertrain

I worked on our schools SAE car a few times, but you are definitely right about the time commitment. I loved it but between a dual major and being on the school's track team, there was no time left in the day (and none on the weekends since we were away every weekend in spring for track) for FSAE. Really wish I did have the extra time back then though to be able to be part of the team/program.

Got my degree in Environmental Engineering from a Chemistry focus program instead of a civil focus like a majority EnvE programs out there. I am employed as a chemical engineer through.
