Give us a DCLB with a standard gearbox, preferably the OR package.

A heated tailgate option. For all those owners pushing their 3.5 equipped trucks to the side of the road with a failing Crankshaft Position Sensor. ;)

That was quite the going concern for us early adopters. I still have my old one in the center console as a spare lol

I detest the electronic parking brake. How does that work with a MT when starting on a hill? I've seen vehicles have the hill assist, is that what you use?

You get an electronic parking brake with manual and a manual one with the auto?!
New motor and trans-had a new f150 as a rental, interior sucked but drive way better than the taco. The new JL auto is leagues better too.
    Drivers grab bar
    Seats that have adjustability
    Manual transfer case
    Front locker
No electronic nannies-it's a truck, not a Volvo

Dear Toyota, good job on the 4cyl. GREAT job in the aesthetics, you totally redeemed yourself after the 2nd gen, which look as exciting and as inspiring as A flour tortilla wrapped around a pound of steamed rice. The only reason the 2nd gen sold is because most people had no choice. In 05 if you wanted a new Tacoma, it was either that or wait a decade +. Keep the aesthetics guy, fire seatbelt mike. Out of all the Americans you could have chosen, you chose THAT dude? He isn’t even from a relevant place. He’s from like Michigan or Manitoba or Milwaukee or something. You’re dropping the ball a little, especially with the 6cyl. Lace your shit up or I’m going to have to get more “in depth” and I promise it’s gonna hurt me more than it hurts you but I will do it.

I actually think the 3rd gen has a good interior. I like the dash and the AC controls. It's basic yet functional and not clunky or dated feeling. I think the parking brake is fine. I wouldn't want a t-handle dash mount.

I'm mildly miffed about the steering radio up/down vs. left right controls and also how the intermittent wiper interval selection feels backwards.

You guys are afraid of RPMS but, fear not, this engine likes it. It's the gearing that sucks. I want more RPMs not less. On 33's I drive in S4 up until 70-75MPH. Then I switch to S5 if steady state.

    I'd like:
    Drivers side grab handle.
Cab mount that clear larger tires.
    Amber rear turn indicators.
UCA bolt that can be removed without cutting or sheet metal bending or lifting the body off of the frame.
    Rear disc brakes.
Tailgate that is harder to steal.
Central locking tailgate and fuel filler door.
Blind spot monitor sensors in the taillights so we can keep the feature with aftermarket steel bumpers.
    Passenger side smart door handle.
    Carplay.
Room for a 33" spare in the stock location in the short bed.

Agree completely. In fact, everything about the wiper control is reversed from our other vehicle (Honda Pilot), which was my previous daily driver for 10 years. I've had the truck nearly 2 years now and I still get it wrong on a semi-regular basis.

My MT has HSA. It somehow keeps the rear brakes locked for a few seconds. I'm not a fan of nanny stuff like this, but the fact that it will save clutch life appeals to my cheapass side. Prior to, I never used an e brake on hills with my MTs. In the crazy steep hills of Seattle, I only stalled a few times over 20yrs of visits.

I hear you on this one. Different than what we want and it's opposite from my other ride. However - look at the display on the screen while adjusting the volume. The indicator moves from left to right, so the steering wheel control is the appropriate lt-rt. My other car, the display moves from the bottom up and, sure enough, the control is an up-down arrow. Might not be intuitive, but at least they are logical & consistent.

My 1980 Hilux 2wd with 4 cylinder 20R engine and 4 speed manual transmission got 18 - 19 MPG during the 10 years and 110,000 miles I owned it. According to the owners manual, the engine was rated at 95 horsepower.

My 2017 Tacoma Off Road V6 with 6 speed manual transmission gets 18 - 19 MPG ever since I bough tit brand new in April 2017, now has 24K miles on it, 100% bone stock from the factory. Feels like it has only 95 horsepower.

Being an Engineer myself, I do not believe for 1 nanosecond that in 35+ years of technological engine development, there has been essentially zero improvement in the fuel economy efficiency of engines. Or at least if we are stuck with such low fuel economy, we can't develop an engine that has a satisfactory amount of power to offset the low MPG. I would gladly accept 18 MPG if I was getting 400+ HP at the rear wheels.

I've only used the parking brake on MT commercial trucks, and only when loaded, on hills.

The three MT cars I had I don't think I ever used the parking brake.

For parking? That sounds interesting. If it works for you, it's fine.

Just in our driveway with a bit of slope both my bikes and our cars will start coasting backward without using the parking brake. I can feel the engine compression leaking down from the cylinders. So, I use it every time, flat ground or not. Just a habit. I won't even get into my bad luck.

It took many discussions of how to park our ATs without loading the parking pawl (a short stop in neutral before going to park and then using the parking brake).
