I think any of the greases above that match spec are fine. The key is applying the grease regularly and more often than you’ll casually remember too. I started with Red N Tacky but found it doesn’t last long (zerks dried faster). Then I went to Valvoline (my Toyota dealership uses it in-house). It also sperates badly into oil/putty consistency over time in the garage. I’m gonna try Royal Purple this time around but I’m sure the 100F garage storage is contributing to the separation vs storing it a room temp.

Anyone use a NLGI-2 grease that doesn’t make a mess when stored?

Edit: Did a google search and found Super Lube was the one most mentioned as a no mess (separation) when stored....

Had to quote the non-quote

I'll be loading up a tube of the Super Lube in my newly obtained Lincoln pneumatic greaser this weekend. Should take care of my ujoints for a few months at least:woot:

I use mobil 1 syn, with the grease gun sitting for a couple months i may get a few drops, but it seems to have gotten better in later cartridges. Just a few days ago i went on a long internet search comparing the specs of different brands, because yes i tend to go overboard. I wasn't all that happy with the specs, but im not a grease expert and it does have the gc-lb rating, which i suppose is good. if i go 10,000 miles without greasing, the u joints are definitely dry. i tend to think its just the design.

I stuck with mobil 1, and here's why. The tech specs were very similar to the spicer grease. Its readily available. i use it in my trailer bearings and it doesn't seem to ooze out. In the end, regular greasing is more important, just stick with any lithium/lithium complex nlgi 2

I use this too. Never had an issue with it except the baseboul does drop out and leak from the grease gun after sitting for a while. Just a small mess though

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
I switched out to valvoline synth-blend at some point in time. Less mess than Red Tacky stuff.

My garage can get pretty hot in the summer so I figure it’s just hitting the drop point. Seems fine once is applied to bearings ect.

I use the stuff above - also just used it on my JD tractor a few weeks ago after not greasing for 2-3 years...the frame articulation points, wheels and spindle movement is noticibly smoother.

    It’s a good grease.

I didn't even know they need to be greased. Mine truck has 98k+ and I've never done this. Thanks, another must-do added to my list, saw a how-to on youtube. I need to visit the forum more often. :D

PreRunners don't have greaseable U-joints, if I remember correctly. Take a look and see if you got zerk fittings. Check the U-joints for backlash. If you got visible backlash, replace the U-joints.
