    So old crazy grandpa gave me an ammo can of assorted ammo he had in the garage. He can't remember what gun the ammo was for, so I'm hoping maybe some of yall could help me because I have a huge can of these.

    First 2 pics are some kinda of pistol ammo. Looks a lot like a .45 but will not load in my 45.

    Last 2 pics are what I'm guessing are rifle ammo.

    Any help would be great and I'd be willing to sell it as well if anyone is interested as well. Thanks!

    Maybe one of these? Is it smaller or larger than .45 auto?

    The 45 looking one seems too big. My 1911 won't seat the round

    They are stamped with 42 so I'm guessing they are .42 caliber rounds which seem to be for mostly older revolvers. Maybe ask him if he had any of those?

    And made by Lake City ammo plant in 1942, from the LC 42. I don't know for sure but the EC pistol ammo could be 45 ACP made in '42 as well.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that's the year of manufacture

    After looking at the website posted above I'm going with the 30 carbine too. :) Jumped the gun. Pun intended.

    Could very well be the case. Modern ammo often times is stamped with the caliber rather than the year so I thought maybe that was the case.

    Lake City still makes military ammo, and still stamps LC and the year of production on the brass. Trust me. I'm confident about the 30 Carbine ammo. Wartime production makes it cool, but not rare. The pistol ammo is more of a mystery but I still think it's 45 ACP.

    @Zona Scout
    Place that 1942 .45 round next to a modern .45 round and post some pics. I'm thinking if it's too long it might be .460 rowlnd or maybe just real old .45 auto
