Just checked and no open safety recalls or service recalls for my vechicle..

Yeah this was actually pretty dangerous especially at freeway speeds

I guess we'll know the answer soon, but the last thing that was "messed with" on OP's truck was the HP fuel pump. That's the first place I'd be lookin'.
Not that it couldn't be the CPS, but there is additional weirdness going on here - the loud clicking, for example. Also, he didn't mention the trans overtemp message that USUSALLY accompanies a CKP issue on auto trucks.
I also noticed in the video that when he restarted the truck, although it sounded like crap, the idle rpm seemed to be quite stable on the tach (the engine would be in port injection mode at idle unless a DI cleaning cycle is active - yes I've seen this in techstream).

    Waiting.. out.

definitely interested in the outcome - I doubt it's the CKP/CPS but that looks exactly like the bolt that holds the CKP into the engine block... though there are probably 200 of those 10mm bolts throughout the truck so who knows if it was a result of something not reassembled properly when the HPFP was replaced?

Apparently the dealer says it was the backing plate? I'm assuming it's some sort of backing plate to the High pressure fuel pump? Where the bolts 'snapped' off. The parts are on back order too...

If this is from the HP fuel pump would this mean when they installed the replacement from the tsb last visit that they effed up when bolting it. Either under/over torqued? Could this have cause other problems?

A backing plate can cause the whole truck to lose power?
And to think because they messed up on the install I could have got into a serious accident.... there has to be something I can get out of the dealer for causing all this?

Had to go look.. guess what:

As OP already indicated, they fucked his truck up with the HP fuel pump replacement. Just my opinion, but does anyone think the guy that put that bolt in didn’t feel like something was wrong as he tightened it? Or maybe too happy with the impact driver? This shit makes me SMH

For sure it could. That pump is mechanically driven. Bolt fails due to mechanic hulk rage (later falls out) and now the pump is loose/misaligned, probably not pumping any more. Basically you’d have no/low fuel pressure for your direct injectors, which would be active under higher load and/or rpm. The ECU would know right away because both high and low fuel pressures are monitored (not to mention AF ratio out of whack among a multitude of other things). Code(s) would set, and I wouldn’t be surprised if ur truck went into fail safe (limp) mode. Port injectors would allow it to still run.

Edit::mad::mad: I hope this fuckery didn't damage whatever drives that pump (I think it's a cam lobe but I'd have to look in the SM to be sure). Also I'd be surpised if the pump itself wasn't damaged/destroyed. Damn, sorry Op.. be careful and make sure it gets fixed properly!

I'm not worried about the fuel pump. They can replace that again if they have to. I'm afraid it damaged other stuff. And I'm not a car expert so I'm not sure what to look for. And to the making sure it's fixed properly... I expected them to know what they were doing in the first place. Cause their the ones that should have went through training by Toyota? What should I look for? The dealer keeps saying they will let me know detailed what is going on with it on Saturday ( when parts are supposed to arrive)
