huh?... the same folks saying the ice is going to be "gone" by 2015, or whatever, are the same folks 15 years ago saying the ice will be "gone" in 10 yrs...

...there have been numerous reports of increases in antarctic ice - so it whatever declines in the north are could be a net zero when you account for the south....

herein lies the problem w/ all these "projections"... they sample a volatile data point and then extrapolate that as if that's the way it's going to progress in the future...

    notice "at this rate"...
Scientists say that at this rate there could be an ice-free Arctic as early as the summer of 2015

if i were a betting man i'd put my money on there being plenty of arctic ice in 2015... ;)

 Quick to argue, slow to read.

I think we'll survive. Even more to the point, I'd like to go up and create a new America where we can be free from the tyranny!

how come whenever i watch "deadliest catch" they always end up running into the "sea ice"?... also, "bearing sea gold", ...these folks setup mining operations on the surface of the ice... seems like there's plenty of ice up around alaska... ;)

I don't think anybody said anything about the Arctic being ice free year round

At any rate , as I said to HBMurphy , I'm just glad we found some common ground now that you guys have conceded that man made greenhouse gases do add to the climate change trend , that's pretty much exactly what I said in the Global Warming thread

Never did anything like that. I just said that the Koolaid drinkers used the same gas as a reason for bi-polar (Cooling and Warming - pun very much intended) Global Change. Something the non-Koolaid drinkers know as Weather.

Weather and climate are two different things , hence the two seperate words

Your article concedes that while there currently may be a plateau in the warming trend , that man made greenhouse gasses do in fact play a part in our climate shift .

The latter being the very point I made in your global warming thread a couple dozen times

no, ...what the article "implicity" concedes is that despite decades of outlandish predictions and alarmism, none of which have come true, they've now admitted things are nowhere near as apocalyptic as their "supposed" "consensus" has claimed...

..i.e. how many times can you cry wolf and still pretend to have credibility on the issue?..

There are few actual discussions because our overlords learned long ago how to easily control the masses. Simply get us biased against and fighting each other while they do whatever nasty shit they want in the background. We're constantly surrounded by polarizations and labelling in the media. It's either 'pro-life vs pro-choice' or 'liberal vs conservative' or 'Republitard vs Democrap' and so on ad nauseum. By being continually inundated with labelling each other and taking sides, it's difficult for folks to turn down the goddamn noise inside their heads and actually think about the content rather than the speaker.

Edit: Oh, and thanks to whoever brought up the movie 'God Bless America'. I hadn't heard of that one before, but i'll be ordering the DVD from spamazon immediately!

I still think climate change is BS. Ive been tracking the temps at my place for over 4 years now, on a monthly basis, and the temps for the last 3 years have been averaging 1.7* cooler than the same month the year before. This year, although people are saying its the "Warmest EVER!!!", I see 5+ * cooler this year, than 4 years ago. To add, I opted to have the utilty company track average temps in my area, and list them on my bill, and it seems they are also seeing the same temerature reductions. utility use is also reflecting that.

There's going to be climate change naturally, obviously. I'm really on the fence about how much we're contributing ourselves to something that is going to happen over time regardless.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter because even if there were concrete 100% beyond a doubt evidence that we're totally clusterfucking the planet, it's not like you'd be able to come to some sort of action plan that the entire planet will abide by.
