I find it ironic that with more information available to us than any other time in history, we are dumber as a society. I see so many people saying crap that is so easy to verify as crap, but people would rather read the headlines than the actual article. I don't know how many times I've seen people commenting on articles, saying, "They can't do such-and-such" or "I'll bet they don't do whatever", when the article states exactly what the commenter has argued.

Then there's this whole idiocy of, "I saw it on the internet, so it must be true." I've come to believe that, truly, not everyone deserves a voice. Someone publishes a blog, suddenly they're a commentator, or free-lance journalist, or expert analyst. No, douche-nozzle, you're a guy with an ego and a Blogger account. There aren't more people saying stupid things, or fringe nut bags, just more people with a chance to hear them. Used to be that people ignored the guy on the corner claiming that gay Nazi robots put an implant in his brain by way of anal probe, because they could see the crazy in his eyes. Now, instead, they see the fancy Wordpress theme, and semi-articulate blog, and the 400 people who stumbled across his blog, and they assume he's on to something. Suddenly, Snopes is hiring more researchers, verifying if there are, indeed, animatronic Hitlers giving surprize butsext on the subway.

My other criticism is that the internet was supposed to be the great equalizer in society, with equal access to knowledge and each other. And it was...for different reasons. It brought everyone down to the lowest denominator, the 15 year old high schooler. Used to be that once you became parents, for the most part, you remained stoic and dignified in the eyes of your kid. Now, it's the mom commenting on her daughter's Facebook wall post about Twighlight, "OMG! I'd totally do Edward! LMAO!" (EDITOR'S NOTE: Schwinn only know Team Edward from some Youtube spoofs. He has never seen Twighlight, and was totally surfing hetero porn on his laptop when everyone else was watching it that one time in his living room). It's true, Idiocracy iss totally a prophetic movie for all times.

    tl;dr

I tend to agree. If I really felt a need to discuss politics regularly in my spare time I would join an apropriate forum. Same goes for other topic that may interest me. I originally signed in to this forum because I needed information about my truck. That said, I do appreciate some of the off-topic humour that graces these halls...

Agree, We should be discussing things in which we have in common (Trucks) versus going back and forth on topics that will never end well. You're not going to change someone's religious / political view on the interwebz. The constant finger pointing or continuously highlighting conflicting polices in GOV's gets old and accomplishes very little other than pissing people off (which may be the goal). Cheers.

    ditto

    and there's the rub...

ya start by checking out trucks and getting truck info...wander over to off topic for a few laughs...

and the next thing ya know...you are wasting precious time in life discussing/debating politics or religion or economics or world events with a bunch of guys who's position you'll never change.

    my dad used to opine:
(and this was decades before internet)

keep it to beer...broads...and box scores...
and you'll never make enemies. :D

I'm thinking about having my rear bumper powder coated satin black until I can afford plate bumpers... which will be in the next year. I'm just wondering if I wanted to sell the bumper, if that would help or hurt, after I got the plate bumpers. Also, they guy that will powder coat the stock bumper said if I wanted to get it powder coated and color matched to my trucks color, he could do it but the metallics would not be the same. Would this look cheap or ridiculous? I am not a fan of chrome and I don't want tp plastic dip. Thoughts?

In my opinion , with a professional powdercoat job , you wouldn't harm your resale value of your stock chrome bumper

I think I would stick to black as this will broaden your sales base when you replace it

I think I am leaning towards the satin black. I suppose you are right. It might even help, assuming I do sell it. Thanks

But would the cost be worth it? you might be able to purchase a used sport bumper for a lesser amount and the color match/material would match the truck.

    That was a pleasant discussion.

I just realized I may be the window licker on the short bus... you wanted to discuss, what happened to actual discussion. Now I get it. Dang. I joined in may so I just assumed it was always this way. There are a lot of people on this forum, so... I'm sure some are here just to entertain themselves. Me, I just like trucks.
