they were great for having numerous name brands of outdoors clothes, great prices, discounted brands, free shipping. another store that used to be popular and is still open https://www.campmor.com/h/shop-by-sale/hot-deals

    Do seat covers count?
I wish they would have never combined the Red Head and Cabelas branded stuff under the same roof. Now it seems like a lot of the Cabelas branded stuff has been replaced with cheaper Red Head. Don't get me wrong, there are a few things I've owned Red Head that I have loved ( I had a Fleece Jacket for probably 6 years), but Cabelas stuff always had quality. Plus I liked a lot of the patented Camo and thermal gear.

better off shopping for gear online, sometimes u get free shipping and free return shipping especially with shoes/boots. plus you get the sizes, colors you want instead of whats on the shelf at the store and better deals.

Cabelas in not what is was. Way too much Redhead junk. Was recently in the it Grand Junction store and they hardly had what they use to carry.
I left and went to Sportsmmans Warehouse. Much better selection.

Same here. Half the store is empty it just has a weird feeling to it. When I finally went in a few months after the grand opening, they were building offices for the sales for trailers and campers. Guess the plan to fill the rest of that space with units that are outside. I highly doubt they will sell a lot in my area. We have a few large RV places around that will be tough to beat. Only a few months of camping around here and we don’t have a real strong local economy for the most part

Martyr. I'm not too sure about that... I haven't suffered or sacrificed much regarding the Bass Pro's/Cabela's "merger".

I was surprised that Cabelas started selling BPS brand boats. How stupid! Even the salesman was irritated. Trackers are nice boats, but they are not Alumacraft.

Most of the outdoor gear I buy at this point is cottage industry anyway, I just go to cabelas when I need some reloading supplies quickly. The store felt half empty last time I was in there.

Cabela's is (was?) one of my favorite places to shop/experience. I'm even wearing a Cabela's shirt today.

Very disappointed after the buyout. I occasionally went to Bass Pro, but the two stores were different - BP being lower quality. Cabela's came up with idea of "destination shopping", which BP copied...

I have a couple items of Red Head clothing, but they are lower quality than the Cabela's clothing I have. Very disappointed.

As for Gander Outdoors, Gander Mountain was purchased by the owner of Camping World. Hence, the RV sales offices. That being said, the new owner is extremely anti-gun. Make your purchases accordingly.

I'm fortunate enough to be only about 15 minutes from the LL Bean Flagship store in Freeport, Maine. Their prices are a little higher, yes. Everything I've purchased from them over the past 30 years has lived up to my expectations and I'll continue to shop there.

Cabelas opened up a store here a few years back and I purchased a bunch of stuff soon after. It was crap and didn't hold up at all. I do buy some fly-fishing gear there, but with the Bass Pro take-over, the fly-fishing gear has been reduced significantly. I don't anticipate shopping there anymore.

I'm just pissed they didn't send me the new card. Had to call capitol 1 and then "whoops, we didn't ship yours".

I'm not as down on Cabela's as the rest of y'all, for a couple of reasons:

    • Tall sizes for outdoor gear. Apparently, tall people don't shop at REI or Sportsman's Warehouse.
    • Cheap FFL transfer fee. The gun prices are a little high but they have the lowest transfer fee in these parts (NM). Reloading supplies, especially powders, are always in stock (though admittedly also overpriced). When nobody else in the state had H4350 rifle powder, Cabela's had several jugs in stock.
    • You can still park RVs/trailers in their lots overnight. In Anchorage AK overnight parking - even at the Wal Mart - was verboten, but no problem at Cabela's:thumbsup: - and the taxidermy display is pretty impressive!

Ill stick to Academy. They dont ask any questions when you return something. I broke a fishing rod and took it back in two pieces. No questions asked and full refund. Although it could be because they looked at my purchase history and see that i pay the electric bill for them each month.
